Assen MotoGP: Cal Crutchlow reflects on lost podium chance

Cal Crutchlow found himself fighting his way through into the top six from the back of the field for the second MotoGP race in succession at the end of an eventful encounter in Assen. The 26-year-old was left contemplating what might have been after he was dropped to the back of the field at the first corner having swerved to avoid...

Ha ha Benny...

Aye but this race he was battling with unfortunate Spies who's 10th in the championship... & Spies chunked his tyre... & Dovi's still 3rd Yamaha... Cal's higher up the rankings... he must raise his sights if he wants to deserve that factory ride... but we know that's not how it works.

building up now and making good racing, if it wasnt for tech 3 or casey and jorge running off now and then putting a show, the season in my veiw would be so boring, they both deserve facotry bikes, personally i think dovi will get the yam, and cal a honda, rosi however after sundays performance i think needs to realise what pulling in does to your carreer, fuck fuck all!!!, remember last year when cal pulled in ? herve was fuming, tyre or no tyre issues, riders are expected to last the race as spies did, still 4th on a wasted rear, rossi spat hi dummy out when barbera and hayden duffed him up!!

Aye Benny...

"I'm sure that Lin Jarvis must be comforted to know that, even when Jorge DNF's, he can still rely on Dovi to get Yamaha onto the podium."

Yep, when your number 1 & 2 get taken out in the 1st corner number 3 should be there to pick up the pieces & some valuable points... as I said, Dovi needs them. Had their fortunes been reversed the gap would've been a lot bigger.

Oh yes...

Very true... it takes skill to qualify further down the grid in anticipation of a stunt like Baustista's... proof that JL isn't perfect.

Let Off Easy

I think Bautista was let off far too easy. He should be made to start from the pit lane 10 seconds after the last rider has gone. Now that is a deterent and would ensure that he does not do the same thing again at the next round taking out CRT riders instead of the title leader.

Fortunately, there's a precendent

He clearly deserves the same punishment as Rossi when he took out the championship leader with a similarly bone-headed move, right?

My biggest doubt....

..about Cal, is that he seems to have problems passing guys running similar/marginally slower lap times. He got frustrated after catching the Ducatis, forcing the error of running off track. Aside from that, he obviously has the pace to run with the quick guys.
