Dani Pedrosa to sign new Honda deal by Mugello?

The MotoGP paddock might be awash with rumours that Valentino Rossi will be back in Honda’s official factory squad in 2013, but HRC bosses publicly at least are saying that a new deal for Dani Pedrosa is close to being signed. Rumours about a Rossi return to Repsol Honda for the first time since 2003 have been gathering momentum since reigning...

$64000.00 question Benny

Would Rossi perform better than them on the M1? No certainty, but history would suggest probably - the fallen sun god still has a few podiums left in him. Would Herve take Ben back to partner Dovi? Probably.

The real losers in this chicanery? Possibly only farm boy Nicky.

Still much to play for. Aliens 1 and 2 already dropped into place, next up is nr.3 DP who sounds all but certain at HRC, MM is still to be confirmed, then perhaps Rossi's fate determines all the others.

What?

Could lead anyone to the conclusion that this means a rossi/lorenzo combo. It just means no repsol ride for rossi. A factory spec ride at gressini is much more likely, or a new team has been rumoured. Personally I'd rather see him win with the ducati, but it looks increasingly unlikely.

Rossi to YAMAHA

I predicted in an earlier post on another subject that Rossi will sign for Yamaha and parner Lorenzo.

Yamaha are stalling their decision on who gets Ben's bike because they are waiting for Rossi to decide what to do.

After the new Ducati engine is tried in Laguna-Seca.

If their is no significant improvement, Rossi will jump ship and sign for Yamaha.

Makes sense for him and Yamaha.

Rossi gets a competitive bike and Yamaha will almost certainly be inundated with willing sponsors.

Desperately needs more competitive rides. A sponsor for yamaha, which might allow them to provide factory spec machinery to tech 3. Or a competitive 3rd and even 4th factory is what's required. It's tragic to have so many good riders and not enough good machinery.

Should Rossi get beaten week in/out there'd be no shame in that as he's  'the elder statesman', JL get's a decent 'wing-man', Yamaha get some much needed funding and many fans will be 'velly velly happeeee'.

A 'win win' situation for all.

Stoner's gone,Lorenzo's signed

HRC given the quality based on results have only one no brainer option. Dani for another year at least. The bloke can still win the 2012 title much like Hayden did in 2006. Nah! Dani is a firm bet for the signing for HRC 2012 alongside rookie Marquez. Marquez brings his own brand of charisma and market value.

Undervalued Dani. His current form suggests HRC simply cannot allow him to be poached by Yamaha factory. Did I say that ? I did. Should Dani and HRC not agree, Dani is open for cultivation by Yamaha. 2 guaranteed and pedigreed aliens in the offing. George could care less. He will welcome the challenge on equal kit as he has often alluded to. Rider and nationality be damned.

HRC will cut a Dani/Marc deal sooner rather than later with cost saving to boot. Sefan will stay at LCR.

Dani had his rookie year alongside Nick. Marc will have his rookie year alongside Dani. Its just a matter of fine print.

As for the 20 million Euro rider deals its history for the foreseeable future.

Honda

Have said they can run 6 factory machines of anyone can pony up. Why would a gresini ride be factory-ish?

In the ever changing rulebook of MotoGP the latest wheeze is each manufacturer to provide a maximum of four prototype machines (reality being the current 2 + 2 scenario). Honda of course will have their new proddie racers to kick the still born CRT racers into touch.

Benny, Rossi has seen Honda's woes and that scares him, he knows his best chances lie with the mighty M1 which he built almost single handedly from scratch don't you know, and continues to bear the legacy of his design, development, set-up and engineering brilliance even today. Rossi's ego has been suitably battered down to almost human levels, so I now (yeah I've been swayed from HRC to YMC) think he'd prefer to be Lorenzo's bitch than taking or replacing Gresini with his own team.

Oh dear

Ducati and significant improvement. No significant improvement by Rossi is probably where the question mark sits right now.

As i said to my mate the other day, when your overhyped and overpaid employee fails to deliver week in and week out,do you crucify the endeavour or get rid of the locknut stuck in the transmission after 19 months of reverse developement at his behest.

No doubt, some see it differently. Right now, anyone contemplating employing Rossi is taking a huge gamble. He can't deliver on an L4 and has never raced a V41000 or 8004stroke. Adapting back to an inline 4 is questionable. The only common ground is alloy beam chassis.

Logic and economics preclude him from a factory seat elsewhere than Ducati. Will the GPC give a green light to a 5th factory bike per manufacturer providing the encumbant pays for it ? There lies the rub.

Pay cuts ? Dani will probably accede to it. He's a pretty sensible bloke and a 2012 title contender without a doubt. HRC were not born yesterday.

Correction

Factory bikes X 5. Prototypes at this stage = 4 per manufacturer,(2+2). Currently no room at the inn for club 30+,unless its L4 and thats looking scetchy at best.
