Sachsenring MotoGP: Casey Stoner tops thrilling wet qualifying

Reigning world champion Casey Stoner will start tomorrow’s German MotoGP race from pole position after a rain-lashed but thrilling qualifying session. The tight and twisty Sachsenring circuit was hammered by monsoon conditions throughout the session but it was Stoner who snatched pole in a pulsating finale. In the final 20 seconds, Cal Crutchlow, Dani Pedrosa and Ben Spies all sat in pole...

Sensational Quali

Sensational quali. Pole sitter changed almost every time someone crossed the line. Exciting to watch all the way through. So cool to see Bradl up there. Impressive stuff from the rookie. More German interest in motogp equals more more motorcyle riders, enthusiasts and hopefully investment in the sport and manufacture of bikes.

Frantic qualifying session so pleased to see Ben on the front row just hope he does not get hit by tyre issues in the 30 lap encounter tommorow this circuit will suit the Yamaha more tight and twisty.

Rain - the great leveller?

I suppose some people will be changing their story to suit the current situation .. again.

Stoner, 0.2s clear on a bike he wasn't happy with. Would have most likely been 0.5+ clear with his number 1 bike. Tommorow, it would be nice to see solid conditions, wet or dry. None of this awkward dry with spits of rain stuff.

Although he finished 7th(which is quite hard to believe considering where he was 30seconds previous to the end of QP) it was a great effort from Hayden, who was once again top Ducati.

Nice one Nicky.

Tumbling Dice

That was entertaining. I hope Ben has lady luck shine on him a little tomorrow. Stefan Bradl was awesome and has served notice to everyone that the LCR Honda seat is not available until 2014 if that.

Further adrift and I have to give credit to Nick. He rode his boots off and was a front row,if not pole sitter throughout the session. The other Ducati fella that keeps praying for rain got it by the bucket load. How lucky he was to qualify ahead of the slowest bike on the track. That being the IODA bike of Petrucci with a lowside to boot.

This all makes one wonder who's Ducati factory ride is really up for grabs. Nick's or Vale's. Should they retain one of them, it has to be #69. #46 ain't trying hard enough.

stoner bull

Usual nonsense from stoner ,reminds me of mansell in formula 1 ,he never had an easy victory,he won one race by a mile such was the superiority of his car so he collapsed when he got out of the car to show how hard it was (not).his mechanics hated him.stoner can never say after a race win or pole position that the bike was fantastic and it was easy,it has to be his genius that did it.tosser.

I'll second that Yam.

That is some achievement putting the second bike on pole.
