Motorcycle Hire Alps

I'm thinking of flying to the Alps with a few friends and going on a mototour - does anyone have recommendations for hire companies and routes? I'd prefer to start in Italy and take in the lakes on the way to the Alps, on the south side of the Alps the weather is likely to be better too.

If it's too expensive to hire bikes we could always ride down - I'm not sure my back will last the distance on my CBR600RR though!

Hello mate,

Depends how much time you've got I suppose... If you have over a week why not just ride?

I did Italy and then return via the Alps a few years ago and it was amazing.... just long twisty winding mountain roads.... sheer joy mate.

Sorry don't know about rentals but possibly you could find a bike rental in Strasbourg on ze German/French border, it seemed like a pleasant bike-friendly sort of a place and not far from the alps.. Found these but seems a bit errr.... pricey!!

...Kinda would make me wanna ride there!

I guess you're not watching the Tour de France at the moment and inspired to hire a push bike to go touring in the Alps

No (me neither:lol: )

I've holidayed over in northern italy in the past and the only realistic bike hire I could find was local scooter rentals. There is a company in the south of france that specialises in renting out classic bikes but they are slightly expensive (You'll have to google for them). Best bet is to google motorcycle/scooter rental/hire around the area you'll be holidaying to see whats available)

Bike hire- expensive

Hi guys, it looks like it might be a bit expensive to hire bikes but some of my friends have naked bikes- to the alps on a naked bike is probably too much motorway! seems the best value I've seen so far- CHF150 for a CBR600F is about £100. They allow unlimited mileage too- othe hire places tend to have a 300km cap. When I went to Wales for the weekend I did 600km per day so the cap would typically equate to another €105 per day with this usage.
