Mugello MotoGP: CRT speed too slow, says Casey Stoner

Reigning world champion Casey Stoner has expressed concerns about the speed of the CRT machinery on fast tracks like Mugello after he tangled with Italian rookie Danilo Petrucci in practice earlier today. Several riders have been critical of the speed differential between the factory prototypes and the CRT machines, which use highly tuned production-based engines like Honda’s CBR1000RR and BMW’s S1000RR. Today...

Caseys at it again. Just because he is world champion doesnt mean he owns the track. Nothing seems to be his fault weather its an incident with another rider or losing to another rider. Come on Casey lighten up. If you put as much effort into racing as you do moaning you might be world champion again

moaning

yer it does count but it is a fair point, if you was in his or another riders seat im sure it would be frustrating, these among others are why he is calling it a day tho as we know.

god speed, casey stoner, i love you more than anyone on here loves rossi or dovi. ahem.

GP Endurance Racing

Different rules for different teams on the same grid. What a joke CRT is. Le Mans 24 hour rule layout is the best forma for MGP. Tire endurance, engine endurance, fuel economy, pit stops....blah.

Did Stoner have an inside track as to this inevitable 2013 circus ?

Back then Rossi bitched about the Ducati 10km/hr advantage. Now he's got it and can do nothing with it.

CRT and Stoner can correctly complain about the exact opposite.

A bike that is 50km/hr slower than Rossi's GP12 at Mugello on the same grid is ridiculous.

The bloody Moto 2's were hitting 290. Give Petrucci one of Max's engines and watch the IODA bike top 340 easy. Forgive me. They don't run SBK at Mugello for reasons beyond me ?

So

How many people commenting have actually seen the incident?

On Motomatters. DE described it as Stoner barging Petrucci harshly aside. Barging suggests pushing aside with contact and all the usual suspects jumped on the chance to cyber- maul Stoner.

I agree, barging another bike is unacceptable. Now we learn that wasn't actually the case and the incident started a couple of corners before and wasn't seen on film.

Petrucci can't be that upset with whatever Stoner did as he's said he's sorry...

Ultimately, Stoner still has a valid point about the CRT bikes - they are a waste of time and shouldn't be in the same race - who honestly actually follows their progress. He's right to say it's not fair on them. As for the usual accusations of him moaning again - read the 2nd paragraph that begins several riders. But that doesn't fit everybody's agenda does it.

Many people

believe that Dorna should have displayed caution and restraint when thinking of putting much slower CRT bikes in a race with bikes of vastly greater performance.

The closing speed must be unimaginable

It was that kind of incident that finished Sheene off was it not?

Fast/ slow/show ?

With the possible exception of 3 riders the CRT GRID  is made up of riders whose abilities are far lower than the GP riders. In addition their bikes are also slower and were only ever introduce by the money men to make more of a show and more money for them.

Sooner or later someone will get hurt as a result of the differential of both abilities / performance but that is what some people want ie too see near misses/moments - it all adds to the ' show ' after all eh ? I dont think so.

Casey is right to make the point and frankly I think he will be proven right.

durrrrrr

unless the rules change to the sat and factory bikes the gap is always going to be bigger, time or no time, they are not as quick simple as, 12 bike grid, crt seperate, in f1 it would be causing accidents and have been stated wont happen to save series!! moto gp should not suffer this crt mistake. moto 2 is just as quick as crt machines.
