Ben Spies leaves Yamaha

It's emerged this afternoon that factory Yamaha MotoGP star Ben Spies will part company with the Japanese firm's team at the end of the 2012 season. In a short statement on Twitter, the Texan, whose achievements include winning the 2009 WSB title, said: "I'm extremely happy to push for the rest of the season to my fans and myself[…] Next year...

Motegi 2010. Rossi, spanked JL good and proper..

THEN, Jorge went blubbing to Jarvis and Yamaha. He'd been looking for a fight telling anyone who'd listen, got what he asked for, lost and made himself look a big cry baby afterwards.

Dawg may have conveniently forgotten this episode but in reality, nothing else matters. Lorenzo knows it and this is why he has to beat Rossi. Forget the broken leg and mashed up shoulder.

Parris still swimming out of your depth I see

The Ducati D16 used to be a good but fickle beast. It only became a P.O.S (oft repeated Oompa Loompa line without basis) the moment Valentino Rossi slung his leg over it for the first time November 2010. He's just not fast enough or man enough for it.

Talking of blubbling to Jarvis. Rossi expressing his disgust at Yamaha giving Lorenzo exactly the same tools to use as him. 'This is not playing by my rules Yamaha' thought Vale, 'Make your mind up Yamaha, it's him or me'. A real no brainer for Yamaha that ultimatum, whose decision has been well borne out since.

It seems I've noticed this late and stumbled into the usual arguments and looonnnngggg bboooorrrriiinnnggg rants from the usual high and mighty posters dragging long lost and forgotten stats from the past twisting them to suit their arguments. Shame about spies. His performances have got him here tho. I would love to see Rossi back on a yam, would he perform?? Who knows. I'd like to see the duke sorted with him on it tho. Who's getting the yam then??? Hopefully someone who can compete up front and get some wins on it, giving Lorenzo and the other top guys the battles we all want to see

Good post. Not something, we on this forum see much of these days. Jorge hasn't anything to prove, he beat his team mate (Vale) fair and square, even if he had broken his leg. His leg break was a disadvantage, but so what? That is racing. Jorge is without doubt, the best guy out there. As for Stoner being boring (luke 7R), are you blind? That guy is the only guy who is far from boring when on a bike! Sideways and tire ripping every corner and although not the most efficient way of getting round a track, his lack of traction control should be watched and admired.

Spies leaving Yamaha

Bit of a shame, but seemed out of his depth in MotoGP- prototypes are so specialised you either can or can't ride at the top. He has one of the best as a team mate- Jorge is at top of his game this year.; this often happens. At least he is man enough to leave, instead of trying to make up the numbers. Very much hope that Rossi is NOT GIVEN his seat- never good to go back to previous employer! Best option would be Dovi, has shown great form this year- sorry Cal!

Shame Ben's off...

but simple facts he has achieved nothing on the factory bike this year and been consistently beaten by Cal and Dovi on satellite's, So.......

Go down to Moto2 and learn how to bash fairings and fight hard again, Ben was always fierce in WSBK and that doesn't evaporate, it's still in him he just needs to find it again and I think MotoGP can confuse riders as to what part of the package to concentrate their efforts on

Farewell video from Ben

Pity he couldn't cut it in MotoGP.  Even after all his bad luck this year the reality is he hasn't got to grips with the way this circus works, and both him and Yamaha have been looking for a way out for a few rounds now.  Hope he regains his mojo in whatever competition he ends up with - failing in MotoGP is not terminal.

and to think that Spies was plotting to leave Yamaha while making that vid.  looks like he can't hack it as a receptionist and an IT engineer ..... as well as an M1 rider  ;)
