US MotoGP: Casey Stoner triumphs in Laguna Seca

Reigning world champion Casey Stoner fought off pre-race favourite Jorge Lorenzo to claim his second successive victory in the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca earlier today. Factory Yamaha rider and world championship leader Lorenzo had threatened to runaway with a sixth win in the opening 10 races of the new 1000cc era when he held off intense early pressure from...

Well Rev

he's been pretty hapless at getting consistent results this year for sure but he sure isn't the first guy to crash a bike and break something. The plan was not to raced the crashed bike at Qatar but for some reason Yamaha couldn't get the back up bike to run so Ben was forced to race it. I've read a couple of articles and gone through my twitter timeline and I haven't read anything that said Ben raced the bike today that he crashed yesterday. So the swing arm or shock or linkage that broke today may have been caused by a stress fracture that happen yesterday or maybe had nothing to do with the crash yesterday if he was on the 2nd bike. If anyone has seen something to confirm 1 way or the other please let us know.

Imagine the hounding Ducati would get if Rossi had two crashes because of faulty bike components.

Any way it was a good race with several battles going on. Stoner and Lorenzo are in a class of their own, I hope Dani can step up to the mark next year.

No way.

A repeat of last year at the front between Stoner and Lorenzo good race. As for Mr Spies is there a conspiracy theory WTF are Yamaha trying to do to him seriously those guys are putting him in a situation where he could get injured let alone get killed Qatar broken sub frame and then a broken swingarm I am a Yamaha fan show some respect to a guy who won you a WSBK title that stupid muppet Jarvis with his off season comments has cursed Ben I am just waiting till he gets off that M1 for good and starts fresh in a class where he will feel appreciated and respected. MotoGP is having a slow painful death too much politics involved it sucks WSBK is the place to be.

GIANT SNAIL TRAILS ...

Found around British homes – bizarre, damp tracks - I.D.’d as dribble from the bottom lips of Casey Stoner hater/resenters & serially disappointed Valentino Rossi fans, following the US GP.

Karma perhaps – after pathetic moaning from same re Stoner’s perfectly valid complaints vis those Dorna poster boys – dog-slow CRT riders – who’s miasmic & myopic meanderings prevented his 43rd career Pole & 5th of the 2012 season? Never mind: Stoner= 4th now on the “All-Time Great” List – equaling fabulous Mike Hailwood with 37 x Senior Class GP Wins! (Lorenzo has 22 to date)

As with 2011, Stoner zapped Lorenzo & into the lead with another gob-smacking 270 KPH pass in the same place – but on the “inside” this time, taking the Spaniard by surprise. Is there no limit to the creativity & genius of the “fastest rider in the World”? One wonders who on earth the Zombies will moan about & pick-on when he retires?

Ben Spies - what can anyone say? The guy just can’t take a trick & justifiably deserves a major moan – qualifying as 2012’s most entitled. A swing-arm breaking is a rarity right up there with the old disintegrating CF wheel trick! Stand-by for a major broadside from him vis Dorna & the way they are interfering with & stuffing-up this great sport & meddling & playing favourites, especially insofar as a certain rider is concerned. Casey & Ben will combine as a dynamic duo, opinion-wise ...

Senor Ezpeleta appears to want to recruit & run his own Teams – as well as play with the Rules & technical stuff that is none of his business. The “alleged Governing Body”, the FIM - is being their usual gutless & supine selves in all of this.

Cheers

Post race love in

Great to see the comradeship between these guys in the post race press conference a real contrast to the previous couple of rounds where the sneering green eyed monster Dovisioso was involved, the plaque for the alternates is in the ladies room Andrea.
