Andrea Dovizioso not nervous about potential Ducati switch

Andrea Dovizioso isn’t nervous or daunted at the prospect of replacing compatriot Valentino Rossi in Ducati’s factory MotoGP squad in 2013. The Italian is hotly tipped to pen a two-year deal to replace Rossi after the nine-times world champion decided to quit Ducati at the end of the season to re-join Yamaha in 2013. Rossi is the highest profile rider to fail...

Can someone please explain this comment..

..."What Andrea has said in the past when asked what he thought about the Ducati is that at the moment it is not a bike to think about if you want to win. But that is something related to the results. A rider of his level should have no problem to jump on a Ducati...

Dovi didn't want to play 2nd fiddle to Rossi at Ducati.

He was approached by Ducati last year when he lost the HRC ride but the biggest obstacle was the poor treatment that is dished out to Rossi's 'team mates'. Dovi was fighting with Cal and Spies for the M1 factory ride but they gave it to Rossi instead so his options are severely limited now. Either stay at Tech3 with Smith, head to WSB or take the only factory ride that is available to him. Nobody knows how long their GP career will last so taking a big pay cheque at this point in time seems like a no-brainer to me....

Dovi is very much a front end rider, his late braking making him difficult to pass prove that, but can he ride that way on the Ducati. History tells us otherwise, Melandri and Rossi both the same, both failed miserably. Give the ride to either Redding or Ianonne, young and hungry and willing to take it to the edge with safe Nicky in the other seat and ducati could progress.

I think Batistella is wrong to compare Ducati to Honda, Honda haven’t produced a bad bike in a long time. In the 800 era Honda just needed a decent rider, they got Stoner last year and won. Makes me wonder why they’ve kept with Pedrosa for so long.

Hopefully with some extra cash Ducati can start to make improvements this year, so Dovi has got something competitive for 2013.

you actually have access to Brembo data I assume, or does this come from the book of Dovi, chapter twelve verse thirteen, written by the ignorant who believe in the supernatural.
