Valentino Rossi wants crew to join him back at Yamaha

Valentino Rossi has told Yamaha he wants to return to a factory YZR-M1 machine in 2013 with his current crew supporting him. The Italian will end a dismal spell with Ducati at the end of 2012 after signing a two-year deal to re-join Yamaha next season. As expected, Rossi has expressed a desire to Yamaha management to bring his entire technical crew,...

Bagging a few wins at the end of the season when everyone else is thinking about their jollidays and gravel is still dropping out of your arsehole from FIVE earlier race crashes in the season, is hardly taming the beast?

In your own words - you're better than that - you know there is a fairly large element of truth in what C&G said about Rossi fanatics and you can't dress up his stint at Ducati any other way than abject failure. Constantly citing the reason for Stoner's 2010 wins as no-one else was trying is beneath you. When Rossi won in Malaysia it was because of his racecraft and skill naturally - different story if Stoner won though eh.. You know the score...

However, you're back on form with this redeemer

Casey was still shitting breeze blocks at Honda with the amount of aggregate he swallowed during his final year on the Ducati

Now that's funny

Rossi

What is it they say? "The grass is always greener on the other side" Will be interesting after nearly 2 years of "fcuking up" the Desmo if Rossi can actually be competitive again against the competition and whether it's just him and not the bike. Well, he can't have any excuses now, can he?Woud be better for all concerned, well mainly Ducati, if he went now instead of prolonging the agony for everyone! Ciao

There is no getting away from it, the 2 years at Ducati have been a disaster for Rossi and his crew. The reasons why they ‘failed’ will no doubt all come out over time.

Prior to the move they were widely regarded by everyone within the sport as been the best rider/crew combination in the paddock by far. Certainly they were (and still are) the most successful by a considerable margin, and any other team in the Motogp paddock would love to have their achievements under their belts.
To those who say their ego’s were massive and they had believed the hype and fallen into the ‘tall poppy syndrome’; well it’s pretty easy to see how they could have been guilty of it. Hell let’s be honest, reckon it would be pretty difficult to find someone else who has had such massive global success and who has not developed an ego from it.
What is certain now is that the past couple of years has knocked the whole crew’s confidence as well as the rider’s and they will return to the M1 a little more humbled than before. This is not necessarily a bad thing – keeps everyone honest and taking nothing for granted. Hope JB doesn’t decide to retire.

They'll let him bring his crew

I can't see an alternative although the mental image of Rossi, without his crew, scratching his head in his garage by himself trying to remember which one is rebound is quite amusing.

I presume Ben Spies will be taking most of his crew to BMW so there must be vacancies. It's hard to imagine that Yamaha would sign Rossi and then not let him bring his crew especially if his arrival brings a title sponsor to aid the funding. The best option for Yamaha would be for the Antipodean arm of his crew to relocate to Europe but as they haven't done it so far you'd expect they won't start now.

Well done RevB

your last comment was a well balanced and sensible view. Rossi knows what people think and he knows what he has to do. - Once a talent always a talent.

Bruce

Thanks for your comment. I have already posted previously that I think Hayden is an all round nice guy and wouldn't be in a works team without talent.  I was just putting into context Nostro's comment that Ducati's design fault is fixed now Rossi is quitting as if to say problem is Rossi, not the bike.
