Valentino Rossi wants crew to join him back at Yamaha

Valentino Rossi has told Yamaha he wants to return to a factory YZR-M1 machine in 2013 with his current crew supporting him. The Italian will end a dismal spell with Ducati at the end of 2012 after signing a two-year deal to re-join Yamaha next season. As expected, Rossi has expressed a desire to Yamaha management to bring his entire technical crew,...

Burgess was thinking of retiring following Doohan's retirement, reports said he no longer wanted to be involved as seeing rider after rider get seriously injured was getting to him. Rossi was wanted by Honda on the 500 but Rossi would only go there if Burgess was his crew chief. I imagine Honda wanted Rossi enough that they offered JB a salary he couldn't refuse so he stayed. Not really Rossi talking him out of it and not sure that retirement has been mentioned since.

It's interesting this time that Rossi must have been keen enough to vacate Ducati and get back to Yamaha, as he just went without any demands that his crew going with him were a pre-condition to him signing. Now he has to hope that Yamaha agree to taking them back as well. I'm not so sure they will as they would surely know he would want them, why not contract them all at the same time? Seems strange.

Surely Yamaha aren't playing games and forcing a bit more humble pie with a covert statement of you walked out, so you come back on our terms. This time we're in charge, not you?

The other things to consider with Burgess are that he can't be far off retirement age now, doesn't need the money, his wife has been seriously ill and he has actually been a bit disgruntled with Rossi's attitude towards the Ducati - it's been obvious in some of the interviews he's given. Not a falling out but definitely a 'FFS just ride the thing' exasperation.

The rest of the crew I've no idea about but the bottom line with Burgess after all else above is considered, is - has he just had enough of it by now and does he need another 2 years. He may feel he has nothing to prove, so why would he need it?

If as you suggest Ducati's design fault has been fixed by Rossi leaving then why hasn't Hayden been winning races.

He will have them with him

Burgess wants nothing more than to see Rossi back to his winning ways and he will be going with the rest of the crew to Yamaha.
The expert crew chief has no idea of retiring.
He will retire from GP's in two years when Rossi goes to WSB.
Mark my will happen.

Saturn, you ask why Hayden is not winning, surely you have been around long enough to know that Hayden is an all round nice guy with heaps of talent but not really an outright winner.

His results are pretty much the same as when Stoner was his team mate and winning on the same bike.

If Yamaha is in charge and they have the greatest rider in Moon man, pray tell me why go after a man that is coming 5 through 10 since 2011 till now. Why not put an Andrea Ianonne there as he is on his day have walked Marc Marquez and have done just that on a lesser Moto2 bike.

Did Rossi burn his bridges with Yamaha? Yep, he sure as shit did. Not only that, but he made them feel like paupers when the money trail (Sponsors) up and walked out with him.

So now, why is Yamaha hiring Rossi. Are they in need of money that bad?  Are they afraid of what he could do for Honda as he did for them back in 2004. Do they know that his super sensitive senses allows him to make the right choices for the bike's development. His debriefs is one of awe to them as said by Masao.

Why is Rossi able to walk over to Yamaha and get signed and why is it you think that he cannot bring his team that he wants.

EVERYTIME rossi fail in every race, it's the set up fault or the bike. that's what makes JB feel uneasy. if you talk about the set up, it only means one thing, JB wrong set up.

hey, maybe it's true that JB can do 80 secs fix. it's rossi that cann't ride it. he must be very extremely pain in the ass with rossi's attitude. maybe if he think about Doohan and rossi, he would say rossi is A BIG LIER!. LOL.

only heaven knows if JB want to continue or not. JB must be curious can rossi do well in yamaha without him. without being insult every race by THE 9 TIMES LUCKY ASS CHAMP. crap!
