At least you’ll crash within the speed limit!

It’s a massive pothole on a bend but at least you won’t be speeding if it makes you crash.  A council has been accused of compromising safety to catch speeders by painting the white line in the pothole instead of repairing it. The line is needed for the speed camera in the background to catch offenders breaking the 40mph limit...

Where's the money going

For repairs?

The state of our roads is unacceptable.

In southern Ireland the roads are superb.

What's going on in this country?

Only in

this country could we paint lines on the road, then carry out roadworks, and re-paint the road - and yet local authorities up and down the country are pleading poverty due to funding cuts.

We have worse roads than some Third World countries. Where's the aid from Africa to help us fix it? Not as if they haven't got sand to spare, is it? In any normal business environment abject failure such as this would cause the road supplier to go tits-up, double quick, as their revenues drop off as no-one wants their poxy roads. Only in Low-Call Grovelingment can such levels of incompetence be rewarded by a `repaint after the repair has been carried out.` MCN how about an FOI request to find out ho much that painting cost? And what the repaint cost will be? And then take it out the Councillors wages... Clearly, by definition and evidence they are incompetent, their staff are incompetent, their ability to manage the road network is incompetent and their supervision of staff who are, let's not forget,in a position of deep primary responsibility regarding road safety are incompetent. How could there possibly be any reward for this other than sacking and possibly jail time? This level of criminal negligence should not go unpunished. And lets have the names of all those involved, shall we..?

Inspired.... snave....

"low-call grovelingment".......I agree These "incompetent" public employees would do well to study Successful small Businesses in this recession as they can't hide behind tax payers money.

local authorities are all but privatised.

one contractor will do the painting another will do the repairs as they are two seperate companies they will not communicate.

i wonder how many people drove through or around it without reporting it.
