The Texan seemed certain to switch to World Superbikes to partner Marco Melandri in a BMW Italia squad next season after he announced he will quit Yamaha’s factory...

I would say.

A very good move if Spies accepts it. It will be very interesting to see him on a HRC bike if he takes it I hope he gets the same kit what the late Marco Simoncelli had.

@revbenny

cal hasnt sold out at all , he is staying in the big league and not going back the world superbike where motogp rejects are winning most of the races which just shows how second rate it really is

It's about the money for both Cal and Spies

Like I said yesterday, it always kill me how some think these guys do it just for the glory and to entertain fans. But these guys have to make a living. You can't deposit titles and trophys and surely can't withdraw funds from them when the racing is done.

Cal just said yesterday that he wouldn't return to Tech 3 to ride for what he was being paid while others were riding in limos. So he changed his mind over night? Naw, it had to involve money too not just a "promise" of factory kit.

And Spies - If he has the factory kit it's gonna come down to if Dorna and San Carlo can get his pay package right with Gresini. Spies isn't a guy who is gonna race for a couple of hundred thousand dollars. He's been making millions for years as a factory rider and not gonna ride for peanuts like others - he'll go to WSBK before that happens in MotoGP.

But's lets be honest here - both Cal and Ben not only should be in MotoGP but Dorna NEEDS them to be in MotoGP. I'm sure Uncle Carmelo had a hand in both deals. It would have been a mess and looked bad if Stoner retires and both Cal and Spies walked to WSBK.

I said Bautista would be 4th in the championship. I was verry wrong. Maybe the Suzuki was not à bad bike after all? Still i reckon Dovi and Cal have far less of à disatvantage to the factory Yamaha's than Bradl and Bautista have towards the factory Honda bikes ? Those Tech 3 bikes are verry good for a non factory team. If only Honda would do the same.

I'm glad Spies has a good chance of staying in the series. He's had a bad year, partly his own fault, partly  mechanical failures. From a international perspective, USA needs to be represented. It's also a huge motorcycle market.

What's with all the Cal bashing here? I'm happy for the guy. Greedy? Is he any more greedy than the other riders? I don't think so. I could mention quite a few names out there. Does Cal pimp himself to corporations, having his mug splashed all over the place selling useless consumer crap? I know a few world champions, who already earn millions riding, and quite poorly of late, who splash their mugs over bill boards and T.V. ads for extra cash. I personally think they're greedy.

Good for him

I am really pleased about this it just seems to feel as though he is getting a chance after some very very bad luck. Yes yes, his results have been awful but Ben has shown patches of being super fast which were so unexpected I was actually shocked cause I didn't think he had it in him in motogp.

Money versus ambition

The later got all these guys here, the money follows after that. I think what Cal amongst others is saying is that in a world where one trained monkey pulls a twenty million pay cheque for little more than selling tee shirts to line his own pockets, don't the others deserve a decent wedge for actually performing on track?

Good Choice For Honda

I think this would be a very good choice for Ben & for Honda. There can be no doubt that the guy is extremly talented as some of his results have clearly shown. This year its all gone horribly wrong for him,but with a new team comes a fresh start.

The Honda & Yamahas are the bikes to be on & if I was was in Bens shoes I would much rather the sattelite Honda to the factory Ducati. Also being in the sattelite team should put Ben under a little less preasure which is surely what the guy needs after this season.Start again from scratch & build back up.Bens got the talent, not a Lorenzo or a Stoner but defenatly talented & capable of consistantly being in the top 6 & podiums.

Perfect choice for Gresini & having him beside Alvaro will make for a very good team. This year the dream satellite team has been the Tec 3 duo, maybe next year it will be Gresini.
