Cal Crutchlow takes maiden podium in Brno thriller

Cal Crutchlow ended a 12-year wait for a British rider to score a MotoGP podium after he took third place in this afternoon’s Brno MotoGP race. The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team rider finished behind a thrilling scrap between Spanish duo Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo, which Pedrosa won after an enthralling last lap. Pedrosa took his third win of the season...

3rd for 2013

It is more of a case of battling for 4th, as the top 3 are obvious, although Dovi won't be in the mix.

MCN gripe

Watched the race on sunday,95% of TV coverage was watching Dani & Jorge battle it out.Fantastic fight at the finish, only real action in the race. So,heres my gripe - Why do we get the Cal headline to talk  about Cals acheivment ( No offence to Cal ) & every thing else that happened rolled into this 1 story & swept aside by the headline.

Obviously Dani & Jorge dont deserve theyre own headline & story ! Its now monday,so Ive given MCN plenty of time to correct this mistake, but No,Not a sausage ! That smacks of massive disrespect for both Dani & Jorge in my book, its just plain down right rude.

MCN - Why do you show the championship leaders such disrespect by not giving them theyre own story or will it apear on wednesday well down the pecking order.Im sure you would not pull the same stunt if it had been Rossi battling for the win.

At last a plethero of good posts, there being space, due to silence from Taffy & Milkybars.

wosihound  -  Cal vs Dovi   Here you are cock-on with virtually every relevant point being covered.

Just to touch on one topic mentioned by a senior Member:   "but he's still very lucky that Dovi had 'fuel pump' problems". Oh dear.

However, regarding Signore Dovisiozo, a man of extreme talent who should never have been dropped by HRC, always better to have a powerful force in your own camp rather than fighting against you. But further to this, he's been so good for Cal this year. The young Brit has, and still is able to learn from the hugely experienced GP craftsman. Now, it would seem, he is ready to take over his mantle, I do hope he can progress. Dovi has probably peaked, is intelligent enough to realise having missed out on a works Yamaha he is never going to win a Moto GP title and being a family man, wife (common law) and daughter, has wisely decided to take a chance at Ducati. With Audi it may come good, but more importantly, he has a 5 million Euro contract to please his bank manager and secure his familie's future. Well done all round.

Wosi....

Good post and for L99, I agree and was thinking the same thing. Why no story on the race winner and runner up? It's not like MCN need to consider the environment (paper and ink) as we're on here waiting! Come on MCN, pull your lazy finger out!!!

I know it's no excuse for the lack of a story on JL and DP story, but Matt Birt is still in Brno reporting on the test.

JR done 6 laps with a best time of 2,04, just heading out for second run

Fair enough Rev.

So, 3rd possibly this year by default, and not a hope against Stoner's Ducati record! Doesn't paint a particularly rosy picture for our friend Dovi does it? You might want to shift that allegiance to the boy from the black country, more bang for your buck....Just a thought!..

Cal and 'special parts'

As noted on Italia1 - Mr Crutchlow, after signing for Yamaha, was gifted with some new parts for the weekend.
While erstwhile performer Mr Dovizioso was not...

Funny how the new bits give you 'wings'
