Share your congratulations for Cal Crutchlow

Cal Crutchlow became the first British rider on a MotoGP podium in 12 years with a fantastic third place at Brno on Sunday. His first reponse to the result was to think of British fans, so we thought you might like the chance to return the favour. Post your congratulations for Cal in the messages below and we'll pass them on,...

Congratulations Cal on a great, mature ride to 3rd at Brno.  All the hard work over the past few years seems to have paid off and hopefully it won't be the last time we see you on a MotoGP podium.  Fingers crossed for you for the rest of the 2012 season. Go Cal!!!

Dovi loses out once more!!

Crutchlow and Dovizioso finish 1-2 in Brno MotoGP test
Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team riders Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso finished first and second at the end of a successful one-day MotoGP test session at the Brno circuit today.

Less than 24 hours after claiming a stunning debut MotoGP podium in the bwin Grand Prix Ceske Republiky, Crutchlow was back in the groove immediately today and he managed to assess a range of different YZR-M1 settings in 47 laps completed.

The British rider carried out the majority of his laps on worn Bridgestone tyres and he was still able to set a fast and consistent pace throughout, his best time of 1.56.461 putting him at the top of the timesheets by 0.117s ahead of Dovizioso.

Cal Crutchlow

Position 1st - Time: 1'56.461 - Laps 47
"It was a good test and I was really pleased with my times. We did the whole morning and the first run of the afternoon on the same rear tyre and it was an old one from qualifying on Saturday. I did a 56.9 on it, which is basically as fast as my race pace and it had 44 laps on it. We tried some different settings but the only problem I have with this bike now is we make some big changes but the lap time is the same, so you never know which direction to go in. In practice for the race on Friday I struggled with the hard tyre but today I tested it again and I was lot faster and consistent as well, so that was a big positive. We can leave Brno really happy because it has been a great weekend. I signed a new contract with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team, got my best grid position, scored my first ever MotoGP podium and then set the fastest time at the test today. We can go to Misano in a positive frame of mind and I'm confident we will be challenging close to the front again.”

Andrea Dovizioso

Position 2nd - Time: 1'56.578 - Laps 31
“It was a positive test today because we tried to understand if a different set-up could help give me more corner speed compared to the race, particularly in the middle of the corner. We found some positive and negative points with the changes we made so it was good to experiment with the set-up and we have found a direction to help me be faster in the middle of the corner. We tried something on the front but this didn't make such a big difference, so it is clearer now that the improvements have to come from the rear to give me more speed in the middle of the corner. The grip was quite good but the wind was very strong and it was really difficult to do the lap time, so I am happy we made a small improvement and I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the changes we tried work at the next race in Misano."

Great race man!

Cal,

Great race man - it was worth the £22.50 I pay Richard Branson each month on it's own!

Great to see you'll be at T3 next year too mate.

well done!

Baz

Well Hip Hip Hooray!

A podium after 12 years of trying for the Brits.I grudgingly have to give Muchtooslow kudos for his podium.

Not forgetting though that only 2 aliens are riding at the moment. The 3rd alien is at home easing a swelling and the 4th rides a shit pig. So the 3rd place is up for grabs as Spies seem to get a shit bike way too often.

Here's to Cal and the nice gift Stoenzo give him by staying at home.

mcn

Why and how mcn take any notice of any of us on this forum beggars belief. I say well done to Cal and great ride , tough to beat Dovi , but essential .But MCN come one asking the commenters on this forum for their messages of congratulations are you serious? Looking at it the Majority of usual posters are mean spirited know nothing trolls .

Well done but..

Fantastic for Cal....but I don't think he's the first Brit to do this since McWilliams. Rossi has an aunt from Scunthorpe...which makes him mostly English. Anyway, good work lad and no down Barry's record.

superb

Congrats Cal, a very convincing performance.  So great to have a brit that is consistently chasing podiums.  Hope it’s the first of many.  How fit was that umbrella girl at Brno.

Whilst I struggle to type with my adhesive web like fingers, I can manage a message of congratulations to the Coventry rocket (not to be confused with Ronnie who is from London).  A deserved effort to break the duck and kill the monkey with some big steel balls and a lot of lean angle.  May this be the first of many that only get higher up the step.  My spidey sense is tingling like an 18 year old bird with a body like buttermilk at a house party with cheap booze on this pal.

One more thing - the Duke is dead in the water.  You had a lucky escape.  As you'll see when your team mate slings his leg over it.  Keep living the dream and eating ice-cream.  Gotta dash, there's some activity on the police scanner - seems there was a disturbance at a house party in Penhill.....
