overheating zx9

My 1994 Kawasaki zx9 (B2) with 48,000 miles over heats, the coolant fills up the reserve tank then overspills and the bike overheats.

I have replaced the thermostat, radiator cap, checked the water pump, run a hose through the whole system, taken the radiator off and flushed it out, carefully bleed the system, when hot and stationary the fan comes on ok, but out on the open road with a bit of speed the coolant will empty into the reserve tank!!  Any ideas out there!

sniff test

Are you friendly with your local MOT garage (cars) ?

If you run the engine, without the radiator cap, and hold the gas analyser pipe end close to the radiator filler, the monitor will tell you if the head gasket is gone. It'll pick up on the hydrocarbons. Do you understand this??  Though if the head gasket has completely gone, there'll be no need for the gas analyser..... it'll just throw the water out as you rev it up.

pressure test

Thanks lads, the bike had a pressure test done by a local bike shop with the necessary kit and everything was ok, no head gasket leaks etc.

I visually checked it, The impeller all looked good, no damage, then started it up without cover and checked everything turned round like it should.
