Misano MotoGP: Jonathan Rea encouraged by HRC debut

Jonathan Rea took heart from an encouraging debut MotoGP weekend in Misano after he qualified and finished inside the top 10 on Casey Stoner’s factory Honda RC213V. The wealth of experience gained, despite havig less than two hours on track during a weather-hit weekend, gave Rea confidence that will be faster and more competitive when he replaces injured Aussie Stoner again...

Some people...

Some people will never be pleased; Rea pushes too hard and crashes... slag the guy off. Rea takes it easy, because he missed out on a day and a half due to the inclement weather, in order to learn something... slag the guy off. He rode his own race, picked up the pace a couple of times to try and catch Hayden, learnt something off a World Champion, felt comfortable and finished in the top ten... what more do you want from a guy that has only spent 3.5 days on an new bike, in a completely different class on wildly different tyres to what he is used to? Top ten is what I expected and that is what he delivered. Well done to the lad.

brilliant ride

Rea did just what he needed to do that is to make the top ten, not wreck the bike and keep Honda happy.  There is a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders. Rea needs a chance to further his career and Honda need to repay Rea for his years of riding a bike that has held him back.

Impossible to judge off th efirst outing as he no doubt wanted to finish though some riders have been a lot faster from the off. Next race will tell us all we need to know.. Personally I prefer a rider to show show how fast he is and work at staying(cal) on as opposed to going very slowly (comparatively) and finishing, Was 8th but behind him were only superbikes and he was on a full works honda the best best race bike on the planet.. How else could Dani keep up with Jorge... Hopefully he can step up next time out..

Rossi haters eat humble pie

Hay all you Rossi haters and fair weather fans (you know who you are) Val had a blinder on the weekend. He looked fit and strong on the Ducati as well as he changed direction on it.

Rossi had a Blinder?

2nd at his home track where he had the advantage of 2 extra days testing over his rivals. No Casey, no Dani, no Cal.

Couple of seconds ahead of a guy he quite often finishes a couple of seconds ahead of.

There were some signs of progress but surely cautious optimisim rather delirious fanfare is the way to go.

No Cal?

MrKrabs - I buy into Pedrosa and Casey probably finishing above Rossi this weekend, but circumstances dictated otherwise. However, Cal was in the race and crashed out of his own accord - and typically Cal battles with Dovi, and Dovi was clearly beaten by Rossi this weekend.

This is an article about Rea.

So Rossi had a blinder?

No rider got any dry weather set up time but Rossi had had 2 days of testing at Misano.

But you know that.

I'm surprised you didn't throw in an insult about Stoner as well.

There are bike racing fans and there are Rossi fans.
