Karel Abraham’s Ducati squad explain Misano start drama

Karel Abraham’s Cardion AB Ducati has issued a statement explaining a how a technical fault seconds before the start of Sunday’s Misano MotoGP triggered a series of events that led to Dani Pedrosa crashing out on the first lap. Sunday’s 28-lap race was moments away from starting when Race Direction aborted the start after Abraham raised his right arm to indicate...

Hedgy, Bob and Trippy

It's a hell of a lot worse than all that. Race fucking direction are obviously all ex traffic coppers salivating over their pedantic pencils. The group mastubatory sesssion they had after fucking up this championship must have been quite climatic for them all. Again they should give themselves a minimum two race ban for gross incompetence.

A tragedy of errors - that's all

KA stalled before the warm-up lap and was push-started, then stalled again before the race start which was correctly aborted for safety reasons.  I don't think the rider, team or officials could be blamed for the bike defect or the consequences to the first race start.

What happened next was a minor feck-up, as the re-gridding process should have been done with the minimal of fuss and involvement by the teams.  Instead there was some confusion about the procedure and everyone swarmed back on the grid.   Who knows how the tyre warmer got jammed on Dani's bike (over-eager mechanic maybe?), but when they couldn't clear it at the 1-minute mark the upshot was to relegate Dani to the back of the grid and virtually hand the win to Jorge.  A possible 10-point turnaround which Dani really didn't need at this stage, but not a tragedy.

The most serious mis-judgment was by HB in not understanding that the pole-sitter may be a little bit better on the brakes than he was, and should therefore been given some room.  Hardly a T-bonehead move, but with very unfortunate consequences.

All-in-all .... shit happens, and I think too many people here are tossing the toys out of the pram.  Realistically Dani needs Jorge to have a DNF, but stranger things happen every year in MotoGP.  Who, for example, would have thought Valentino would walk away from Ducati and THEN have his best result???

Just 4 observations

1) Obviously AB have no intention of racing Ducati's next year. 2) There's no way AB can be blamed for Ped's miss fortune. 3) If you stall on the grid you raise and flap your arms like mad, you know you have a load of loonies behind you about to go 0 - 120/140 in 3.something seconds with very limited visibility, and a high probability of you being hit. 4) Whomever posted the comment that he could have raised his hand a split second earlier has never been anywhere near a start line, unless it was at Santa Pod.
