Banned for 103mph wheelie past camera van

A motorcyclist was banned from the roads for 12 months for wheelying past a speed camera van at 103mph. Lukasz Wisniewski, 26, of Leeds, did the stunt on a Honda Fireblade on the A63 near Selby on June 20. He was already doing 93mph when he began the wheelie. He was ordered to take an extended driving test and given a community order...

Show offs

I watched some show offs the other day doing stupid crazy Wheelies, stood up on the pegs. one handed and must have been doing 140 plus When they finally stopped they were laughing and jumping around like idiots being slapped on the back and Hugged by grown men. One then wasted an entire botle of Champaigne over some tarts in Lycra and it was all recorded on camera.

I agree that such behaviour is dangerous and should be treated with nothing but utter respect by the rest of us whose ability comes no where near.

There's a time and a place for everything. This wasn't it, obviously.

Selective Enforcement

Here in the US you can follow a motorcyclist at less than 20 feet in a 3 ton SUV, and the cops do nothing, but if that same motorcyclist sped up to 15 mph over the limit to get the cager off his @rse, he would be ticketed. Unless he was on a Harley-Davidson with loud pipes, just like the cop rides while off duty.

And if the cager hits a motorcyclist, pedal cyclist, or pedestrian, he/she likely will get at most a ticket for right-of-way violation – a $150 to $300 license to kill.

speed kills

The Earth is also moving around the Sun at about 67,000 miles per hour, Should we all take an extended test? because speed kills. Nice wheelie tho.

The lesson clearly is...

...that if you want to ride like a twat, you are better off not bothering with registering the bike in your own name, tax. insurance or even a licence. Come to think of it, why not just steal the bike? After all, if he'd done that, the taxation camera wouldn't have caught him, and even if somebody had caught him, the sentence wouldn't be any higher than the one he actually got.

I can't argue with nicking people who pull wheelies in stupid places at stupid speeds, but treating them worse than drug dealers, bike thieves and other 'proper criminals' is likely to turn more people  _into_ proper criminals...
