Silverstone gets September date on 2013 MotoGP calendar

The 2013 British Grand Prix will feature much later on the schedule after the Silverstone race was moved to a September date on the provisional calendar. Next year’s race is due to take place on September 1 instead of the traditional mid-June slot, while Qatar’s night race will once again kick off the new campaign under the Losail International Circuit floodlights...

So the Italian Grand Prix has been pushed back to its normal month of June kind of strange why the British GP has been put forward to September.

Good.....

About time, our eather in June is shocking, it basically pisses down, either early March or September seem to be the best bet, maybe now we can go and camp and enjoy the whole weekend without geeting drowned.

Good move.

Our Junes seem so wet now. September seems more settled. Great time of year to view racing. Clear sunshine when it happens. I'm for it.

Over the last thirty year averages june has been marginally drier than september for that area of England. Temperatures were pretty close. However, if all you were concerned about was rainfall then you'd be better holding the race in february. One thing that probably won't be so good is the track temperature. With the sun being much lower in the sky in september than in june it won't warm the track up as much. This also means of course that the track will dry more slowly. Silverstone is pretty crap anyway. The spectator experience is awful and the track itself is too focused on cars. It just isn't as good as Donnington.
