Byrne and Brookes share BSB honours at Assen

Josh Brookes leads the MCE British Superbike Championship by two points from Shane Byrne after two epic races at Assen, Holland. Byrne claimed an historic first Assen race win this morning on his return from injury and moved to the top of the Showdown standings as dramatically Tommy Hill failed to score after being involved in an incident before the start...

Top marks to them both

Top marks to them both. Byrne has looked comfortable all weekend and has been fast in most of the sessions. Brookes may have not had the out and out pace throughout the weekend but he gritted his teeth and pushed to the limit in both races, credit to him. Both races today were fantastic, with great battles throughout the races.

Superhuman

Shakey Bryne - only a few weeks ago he ripped his shoulder out of it's socket detaching the muscles and ligaments from his collar bone. He is quoted as saying they slipped over the back of his shoulder and had to be re-attached with staples. Then he comes straight back and wins!  How the hell doe these guys suffer injuries like that and come back as if nothing has happened ??  Most of us would still be in hospital unable to move our arm. UTMOST RESPECT.

BSB

Fantastic days racing . Good to see Josh and Shakey at the top . I see that Hill is getting his excuses in early over coming 4th in the second race and moaning about Alex Lowes "hard" overtake. For christs sake what does he expect ? Lowes is not out there for a Sunday ride out . If the racing is too hot at the front then its best he hangs back.

top races

Two edge of the seat BSB's, Shane & Josh, fast and committed racers, you've got to feel for Tommy Hill , can't wait for the next round.

good luck Shakey

It would be just deserts if Shane wins this season after last year, just a shame that Birdy will be taking some credit , but you can't have everything , good racing too , is it just me ref Tommy Hill , Can't put ny finger on it but I just can't warm to the bloke, he has never quite clicked either in style or personality, to me he lacks both
