Byrne and Brookes share BSB honours at Assen

Josh Brookes leads the MCE British Superbike Championship by two points from Shane Byrne after two epic races at Assen, Holland. Byrne claimed an historic first Assen race win this morning on his return from injury and moved to the top of the Showdown standings as dramatically Tommy Hill failed to score after being involved in an incident before the start...

The Stig

TH has a huge fan base and is a World Class Rider. Great all round bloke.

Why have a pop at Paul Bird. He has put so much into racing teams and supporting riders. A bit like Mal Carter in the 70's and 80's.

Top Josh

For all his experience Shakey was totally outsmarted on the last bend by Josh. Both saw the back marker but Josh was cute enough to go up his inside. Shakey was right to feel pissed off - a lot at the back marker, but if he was honest he would admit that Josh did him up like a kipper!! Great race, looks like going to wire again. And dont write Tommy off yet

Josh?

when Brookes arrived in BSB, with all his entry permit problems etc., I was expecting something  special, but in his early races, he was a bit crazy and I was no fan of his when he's crazy crash wiped half of the pack out, and it finished Sylvan's BSB season, but he's matured into one of the best BSB racers in quite a while, he's fast, totally committed  and now has great race craft, as he showed last weekend by the moves he put on Shakey, that was committment, and I think he's ready for a BSB title.
