Ben Spies right to delay World Superbike return

Ben Spies was right to shun the opportunity to move back to World Superbikes to try and fulfil his potential in the MotoGP world championship. The Texan seemed certain to be leaving MotoGP after he announced on the eve of his home race in Laguna Seca at the end of July that he would quit Yamaha’s official factory squad. He was lining...

Those who think

that Ben will not continue being in the 1st to 6th winners circle will surely be dissapointed. Ducati Corse changes on their approach to Reasearch & Development, especially with the podium earned at Misano have turned a light for Elvis Presley.

It was a win for them where a rider was in a controlled situation and not a win or bin like rolling Stoner. At no point did Rossi  complain that the bike give him a moment that scary. The frontend worked as it should and the tyre wear was on par the entire race.

Going forward with the expected changes on how they will develop the Satellite Teams with upto date factory parts similar to Bautista or Super Sic deal at San Carlo is a bonus for Ben Spies.

If this next race at Aragon proves that the GP 12.** handling was no fluke and Nicky and Rosssi are up there with the other Manufacturer's Factory bikes and beating the Satellite bikes, then you had better watch out for Spies.

As for the failure being handed out so easily from the Brits on Spies debut on the 1000cc bike this year along with the bad luck encountered, we will see how he ends his unfinished debut.

I will be the first one in line to say, " YAWL MUSTA FORGOT WHO THE FUCK SPIES IS".

Go Spies GO GO GO!!!!

MotoMatters.com: Next year you have the Ducati junior strategy in place. Can you explain how you see that working in terms of development? Will you have four equal riders or two riders who get equipment ahead of the other two?

Filippo Preziosi: I think the main difference between next year and the years before is that we agreed that every development that will be developed by the company will be supplied to the satellite team by default. In the past it was an option that the satellite teams had, but there are some commercial issues, so sometimes they did it, sometimes they didn't. Now we are more close, so when we develop something for our factory team, we want to supply to the satellite teams, if the riders like the changes. So we would like to be as strong as we can.

MM: Can you explain how having four riders on the same bike fits in with working with Audi? Do you expect the pace of development to increase because of the assistance from Audi?

FP: For sure now having two different bikes between the factory team and the satellite team, it is difficult to compare the data. Of course if you have similar bikes, also in their specs, for all the riders, we can compare the data easily from an engineering point of view, so it helps to develop the bike.

Ben and Niall

Bens Assen win was a good one , very worthy rider , But  MacKenzie on the whole was a far more consistent performer than Ben has been this year .But apart from that I hope Ben gets his act back together .

I believe that Lorenzo now has a #1 rider contract and Spies bike is no different to the Tech3 bikes. Let's see how Rossi goes next year, if he can tough it out with Lorenzo then I am wrong, if he stays just ahead of Crutchlow then I am right. I hope I'm wrong but business is business.

Perimeter deactivated...

Chicken and Ale Pie is a very decent racer (as proven with his many titles against not too shabby competition) sadly though he's not able to fight with the premier class anymore.  When you are beaten by rookies and satellites in your 3rd season riding a bike that is leading the World Championship, tiz time to join the departure lounge (or CRT) and book a flight back to AMA or WSB.  And by those merits, don't expect instant results.  Sykes is charging his way up the order this year and his former team mate would be playing catch-up to the top 10 ten riders (minimum) because they have what he lacks.... hunger and focus.  IF he gets that back, then he's in with a Podium contender chance (in WSB) for the 1st half of the season....  Wins will come later if he takes long breaths.

current ranking and status

Spies place in the pecking order has been badly damaged by this years showing, Dovi and others are well ahead of him when it comes to being offered factory seats now , mainly due to their consistent placings at every round.

If Spies can accept that he's just not as fast as the top guys out there just yet, then work on his consistency and weak points, he may just still make it as a respected top five runner. Alien status though? never gonna happen.
