Major route pothole

I've already posted this in readers news and someone suggested I post it here.

On Saturday August 11 I collected my new  GSX-R750 and on the way home got a new rear tyre fitted.

On August 14 I went to collect a seat pad from someone in Westbury and on my way back along the A36 near Stapleford, Wiltshire I hit a large pot hole in the dark which resulted in a near crash, bent foot peg and a large dent in the rear wheel along with a damaged tyre.

I contacted the Highways Agency only to receive the attached letter telling me 'tough' in not such a manner.

Now six weeks later the hole is still there.

I've uploaded the letter as a picture.

Is there anything I can do in addition as i'm quite useless at these things?

That`s not a pothole, that`s  normal road surface today.

You must have had a flat tyre to damage your rim.

Sorry but you`ve no chance of a claim.

I`m no expert.

100% not flat. only fitted a new tyre a few days previous. The tyre was still hard on the wheel a couple of weeks later.
