Police launch sting operation to catch bike thieves

Police are planting bikes equipped with hidden tracking devices in theft hotspots in a sting operation to catch thieves. A signal from the tracker alerts waiting officers the moment a bike is moved and allows them to pinpoint its exact location at all times. There are also plans to hide cameras on the bikes to film the thieves at work....

bike stings

The bikes should be laced with a little bit of plastic explosive, with the detonator linked to a pager.

When they see the thieves on the bikes, dial the number. No more bike thieves :-)

It will deter thieves

This news is best when more people know about it! The thieves will know that police are placing tracked bikes but the thief wont know the difference between a genuine bike meaning they will be put off stealing motorbikes.

Once caught, just execute them, simple. what's that you say ? human rights? don't care. Just like scum... they don't care. In fact , let's have their address so us hard working targets of "fucking scum" can exact our own punishment. No more Scum.

They should do this in Northampton too. Some scumbag tried to steal my dad's CBR1000RR, they snapped the steering lock and tried to roll it away. However they didn't manage cause there was a disc lock on the rear. If they were smart enough and saw the disc lock they wouldn't have tried. My bike YBR125 was stolen from a locked lamp post. They cut through the lock and took it (admittedly it was a cheap cable lock) I now have a Hornet 600, learn't my lesson and bought an Almax Series IV. The best consumer chain on the market...

Unless this is done nationwide, the bike thieves will just 'work' in another county.
