Casey Stoner confirms Motegi return

Reigning world champion Casey Stoner has confirmed he will be back in MotoGP action at next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix at the Twin Ring Motegi. The Australian has been out of action since he badly damaged his right ankle in a qualifying crash for the Indianapolis round in mid-August. Stoner had always hoped to be fit for the Japan round to help...

Merv..

Yes..we know, but it's more to do with Casey thinking he was smart enough to take Rossi on in verbal and head-game battles that ultimately saw him disintegrate, then quit..not wearing a toggy didn't help either.

As usual, your daft lads are in a tiny minority but think you know best?

Love to have a pint or twelve with Merv, a proper bloke. Probably would have ended up rolling around, using that handlebar tache to steer the big fella out of a highside and launching himself into the optics behind the bar.

that lot

amounts to toffee, us Brits don't give a flying f what the yanks think, there has only been one true art form to come from the USA anyway.

Stoner's a champion racer, what he does now will have a greater effect on his standing, than anything he has done before, one of the differences between Rossi, a 9 times world champion, with that alone unlikely to be challenged, who's had two shit years, but he's back for some more next year. I'm no blind Rossi fan, but think he's got something to prove and will probably come out of the box next year, flying. Whereas Stoner, fast as he was, but with only 2  MotoGP championships, doesn't like what the sport has to offer, so he rolls over and whinges and then gives it up. I'm not happy to see Stoner out of it, but one monkey don't stop the show.

I'm picking that to be one Graeme Hick

A sublime national level cricketer from Zimbabwe co-opted into the English team (due to competitiveness issues England still choose their cricket team on the basis on Empire. How many Saffies in the current team Wosi?) where he instantly and permanently became very mediorce internationally. A strange one. Never liked the short rising ball. He scored a ridiculous number of runs for my province of Northern Districts in a season way down under. Then again, maybe I've got the wrong man altogether!

No team orders

Now that the championship is out of reach, Casey's prime motivation is to win more races and in particular the Oz GP.  Hard to imagine he will be super competitive in Japan next week, so is unlikely to impact the Pedrosa/Lorenzo battle.  It will be more a case of testing out the strength of the ankle and getting as many laps in before Phillip Island.

All Dani can do is keep winning and get Jorge's lead down to less than 25 points and then anything can happen.  If this was Hollywood then Valentino would take Jorge down in Valencia and hand the crown to Dani, but I fear that this year will finish with a whimper rather than a bang.

Casey

it's a tough call to know what Casey is going to be like on his return, it's doubtful he will untill he's back on the bike, and the practice and qualifying will give us and idea of his fitness, but I cannot see him doing anything other than going for a win at Phillip Island, it's his 'swan song', and his fans will expect it.

Decision TJ

you've disappointed me, but it is tough for you to come up with such a corker of a joke, it put me in a real good mood for the rest of the night.

Reading very carefully into your post and between the lines, you seem to be hinting that 'you're done with that post', but it's not long till Sunday and I hope you're still coming out to play afterwards lol. Oh, don't forget Sir B's on stage, bowler & cane, and get ready for the brake dance lol.
