Honda powerless to influence MotoGP switch for Jonathan Rea

HRC has admitted it was powerless to sway satellite team boss Fausto Gresini towards signing Jonathan Rea in 2013. Honda is consulted on rider selection for its satellite teams but has no right to veto Gresini or Lucio Cecchinello’s preferred choice. So despite throwing its support behind Rea for the RC213V currently raced by Spaniard Alvaro Bautista, it was a recommendation rather...

wow it's been

Another great day for the Welsh Royale family,Motogp needs riders from other parts of the globe, but where are they ?,well hey thats a point Honda already tried spoon feeding Dovizioslow so that was that book closed,However It should still be that the previous years kit is either leased or sold, that would swell the grids with decent machinery and also allow some high profile riders to set up there own teams ,It's not that hard to improve moto gp it's just politics and dictatorship standing in the way, last years factory and satelite bikes from all factories, would more than fill the grids, with all nationalities with the funding, talent is not prohibitive it's cash Karel Abraham e.g.

spanish rule ok

four rcv hondas in gps next year, and three spaniards on them, whats that you say rev, about riders from other parts of the globe,or four spanish riders on the top six bikes,we know pedro can win on the honda, im not sure about the other two.as for rea , he was on bautistas coat tail in his second race, without much dry time to learn, what he needs to, and hes not pushing as hard he can push, bautista has had 3 yrs to get upto speed and should be in there with the tech 3 guys every week looking for podiums on the rcv,and hes not really.honda have reas data, and know what hes doin right and what hes not,and where he needs to step it up.i dont think they would be in his corner if they did not think he had the skills to switch to gp

C+..slightly above average.

Rea did a decent job..but nobody was tripping over themselves to make sure he stayed in GP. He's just a good Superbike rider.

He had a fair run at it and was given plenty of track time.

Biaggi and Melandri would probably have podiumed on that bike at Aragon given a similar set of circumstances..Tom Sykes is a faster rider.

Know your place Jonny..mid pack in the Honda family.
