POLICE are investigating the death of a 52 year-old biker who struck a large concrete block that they believe was deliberately placed in the road.
The victim was riding a blue Honda CBR and appears to have hit a large rock in the middle of the road, before colliding with a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene on Dawes Hill Lane in High Wycombe, early on Sunday morning.
Insp Paul Wilkes, head of Thames Valley Police’s road deaths investigation unit said: 'It appears a person, or persons, have moved a concrete brick from the verge and put it in the centre of the carriageway.
'It could not have rolled or moved without human intervention. It was embedded in the verge to prevent people from parking.
'The block is about 12 inches by 12 inches and probably used to hold a metal post. You would certainly have to lift it with two hands and you wouldn’t be able to move it very far, in this case about eight feet.'
Police are urging any passers-by that saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area between midnight on Saturday and 6.30am on Sunday, or may have any information about the incident, to come forward.
Contact police on the non-emergency 101 enquiry line with any information or, if you do not wish to speak to police, call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
