Motegi MotoGP: Stunning last lap secures Jorge Lorenzo pole

Jorge Lorenzo produced a fantastic final lap to clinch a sixth pole position of the season ahead of Yamaha’s all-important home race at the Twin Ring Motegi tomorrow. The Spaniard powered his factory YZR-M1 machine to a lap of 1.44.969 to grab pole by 0.246s from title rival Dani Pedrosa. Repsol Honda rider Pedrosa had dominated practice and a lap of 1.45.792...

Jorge

pulled that one out of the bag, Dani could have his work cut out tomorrow. Well done to Cal, another front row start, if he can survive the first few laps, and keep his cool, he could turn this one into a good result, I don't see Casey getting in the way, it's a tough race for him with that injury.

Jorge

As good as his lap was it's still quite a long drag to the first corner which'll give The Admiral plenty of opportunity to nail him. Failing that the drags down to the 2nd or 3rd (or 4th if you take turn 2 as two corners) corners will probably be enough for D.Pedrosa to get past. I'm looking forward to the rematch between Stoner and Rossi for 7th ;)

Cal...

...had a problem with the bike which caused the run on and stopped him from making a faster run... the team are working today/night to identify the issue and resolve before the race.

He could be good for a top 4 tomorrow i.e. only loose one place (to Dovi) from his bad start

the racing has been a lot more interesting these last few races.

Jorge leads, Dani follows, Dani overtakes, Jorge can't keep up, Jorge settles for second, Dani wins.

Whats the odds on the same thing happening tomorrow?
