Motegi MotoGP: Danny Kent wins dramatic Moto3 race

British rider Danny Kent claimed his first Grand Prix victory in Japan after a dramatic final lap of another pulsating Moto3 race. Kent started the last lap in fifth position with his hopes of a maiden victory looking unlikely after he had started from pole position for the first time in his career. But he was moved into third when Spaniard Luis...

Top step

for Danny, what a great race, brilliant to see him mixing it up the sharp end, kept his cool and has shown great race craft, and turned that pole into a well earned first win. Hope he can carry that confidence into the next round, can't wait.

Kent

Fantastic result for Kent, nice clean pass to take the lead. Cortese is a cock, cant wait for him to get his arse handed to him in Moto 2 next year.

Superb win!

Well done Danny.

Cortese? Brilliant rider but showed his true colours unjustifiably lashing out at his team mate when he couldn't accept that he messed up, instead of congratulating him on his first win. A few races ago he came close to actually knocking Danny off a couple of times... Danny was nowhere near that incident... a spoilt brat who thinks wins should be served to him on a plate.

Tonucci's move was hard but fair & was going to happen whether Danny came through or not... Cortese wanted to come back straight away but lost it... lucky he didn't take out Tonucci .

As it was Danny took 5 valuable points out of Cortese's nearest rival. In the extremely unlikely event that it comes down to the last race he's totally shot any hope of help from his team mate... gloves off time.

I totally agree with your reading on that, Danny rode his own race, in fact I began to wonder, 3 laps from home, whether he was going to get a podium, but that bit of late braking by Danny going into that right hander, which Cortese thought he could better, set him up for that crash, it was nothing to do with Danny. Danny can't consider him a team mate, begruding him the win, when the crash was of Cortese's own making.

Aye CB...

There's a post race interview with Cortese on MotoGP where he states "they (Danny & Tonucci) were both really crazy" for wanting to win the race & should have had respect for the championship leader. "Both have the same fault"... in other words he wanted the championship on a plate... so even in retrospect he's still an arse.

Cortese and Kent

Like the gentleman he clearly is, Danny was worried about upset Cortese when he should've been soaking up first win- rare but nice to see. That said, he shouldn't worry though he did nothing wrong. Id like to see team management say as much. Cortese has a cheek after some of his moves on Kent.

Cortese

What the hell is that guys problem? Danny didn't actually touch him. If you look at the replay its actually Cortese that rides into Tonucci on the cut back, and comes off second best. Tonucci holds his line, but Cortese swerves to the right for the cut back, opens the throttle, and the resulting veer to the left puts him straight into Tonucci, who rather fittingly rides on while Cortese flounders about in the middle of the track. Reminiscent of Melandri's move on Max the other weekend which ended in similar fashion.

Aside from all of this, Cortese is so far infront in the points, all he has to do is finish behind Vinales in the next round, and thats it, championship won.

Good ride Danny, onwards and upwards.

Time to grow up

As far as respect goes Sandro, you have to earn it son, it doesn't get handed to you. You are no longer the #1 in the team, that ended when Danny got his upgrades to match your bike a few rounds ago, and no team orders means exactly that. Danny made a clean pass but your move on Tonucci was reminiscent of what you tried to do to Danny a while ago but this time you came off second best.

What goes around comes around.
