Sepang MotoGP: Dani Pedrosa wins to end rain jinx

Dani Pedrosa scored the first wet weather Grand Prix victory of his career earlier today after he triumphed in atrocious conditions at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The Repsol Honda rider was leading the way in monsoon conditions when the race was red flagged on lap 13, with Race Direction declaring conditions too dangerous to continue. Cal Crutchlow, Andrea Dovizioso, Stefan...

Dani for 2012

It's amazing to think after all these years that these 3 are all so even.  DP,CS and JL all have 44 GP wins under their belt.  DP has far more podiums and championship points than the other 2.  CS has far more MotoGP wins. And JL always seems to split the 2 with the statistics.  Hopefully Dani will come up trumps at the end of the year.

Tripi...

"Think the race being stopped was fair enough,   riders going down like skittles. The race wasn't stopped just for Lorenzo there was a war of attrition going on out there."

I'm not so sure... as I said elsewhere, the last rider to crash, Cal, went down almost 9 minutes earlier... that's a bloody long time to make their minds up. Are you saying Cal's crash wasn't a mistake? I didn't see JL waving then.

Stoner had only dropped 1.5 secs off his fastest lap... if that's the gauge then almost every slight change of conditions should trigger a red flag 'cos 1.5 secs over a 2:15 lap is only 1 sec at shorter circuits.

JL made the wrong tyre choice. He was lucky 'cos race control saw him almost crash & flagged it... the Repsol guys could have continued & the rain had virtually stopped by the time they would have been taking the chequered flag.

In retrospect (considering the conditions got better rather than worse) it was a bad decision that may have cost Dani the championship & has made it less of a close race for the fans.
