Casey Stoner rebounds to secure Phillip Island pole

Casey Stoner bounced back from an early crash to claim pole position for his final home race at the spectacular Phillip Island track in Australia earlier today. After dominating all three practice sessions, Stoner suffered a small blip in his quest for a sixth successive home victory when he fell at Turn 4 with just over 20 minutes of qualifying completed. He...

What can you say about this guy...

... 5 of his 7 laps were faster than anyone else... 7 more in FP3... that's another half race distance faster than anyone else's fastest... he did that yesterday too... the crash in QP will be a warning of just how close to the limit he is... how much he backs off will be interesting... as will the weather.

A win here will make it 6-6-5 between them... at Valencia 6-6-6... surely a sign of his allegiances!

Wosi - "Yes..he was an Alien's alien at Indy too. That big old highside was about the same as being thrown out of a spaceship.

Wonder what Pedrosa and Lorenzo thought about that?..when they stopped laughing."

Do you really think people laugh when others they respect are injured?... do you laugh?... it would take a real sick individual to see the fun in broken bones... I think you need to take a step back... he came 4th... with a broken foot... yup, an Alien alright.

You know my view Wosi - there is bugger all between Lorenzo Pedrosa and Stoner, they are that close, but one of them edges it in outright speed and that's Stoner. During a race, it can go the way of any of them.

You keep on about Stoner developing a bike backwards - how do you know who Honda are listening to, who has the most influence out of Stoner or Pedrosa - if either of them? Honda gave them a new chassis back in Misano. Pedrosa liked it Stoner didn't, so whose spec was that one built to? You also know that the GP9 and 10 were affected by the new control tyres moreso than the others, although Suzuki had their fair share of front end crashes too - that same Suzuki rider isn't having many now is he? If tyres don't work with a bike, it's hard to develop it out. Yamaha took many months to deal with chatter in 2006 and that was when Michelin could change the tyre.

This year there has been very little between the 3 riders or their bikes, therefore it was never a certainty who would win races. I never once said Stoner would walk it, neither did any of the others on here with any objectivity.

You make more about winning titles than I ever will, especially the so-called importance of back to back titles. It's not called racing for nothing, I'd rather see them hammer and tong than coasting for the points haul. You're all whining about the lack of exciting racing, then you expect one rider to pull over for another so he can have more points and win a title. Big fckin deal - some achievement that is.

Oh come now Hedgey..You're being a drama queen with that condecending and humourless, high browed morality.

Do you think Pedrosa and Lorenzo went on the piss to drown their sorrows once they knew Casey'd crashed himself out of title contention for the 4th time in 7 years?

Do you think they fought over who was gonna take him the grapes?

And it was a twisted ankle not a boken foot..Mister, I'll exaggerate to make Casey look heroic because I'm his #1 fanboy.

Jasus H..you're a dull one.

Bulto..the GP9 &10 were affected by Prezel's new CF monocoque design..you know, the one that Stoner begged for early and turned him into 4th best alien for two years.

Stoner is not in tomorrow's race, it's of no consequence where he finishes but it might have been for his team, if he wasn't such a selfish, ungrateful, glory seeking little twerp.

I'd stop his last two wage packets if I were his boss.

You got me yawning now Wosi

We all know baring weather interruptions tomorrow is Stoner's to lose. Let's debate some of the less certain outcomes; like will Rossi be able to outrun the CRT's?

So Wosi, if the roles were reversed Pedrosa would help Stoner?  As if.

If anyone should have his pay docked it's the yellow journeyman  :D

Hey thanks for that eloquent contribution Harry mate.

Well this is a discussion forum and my humble opinion is that Cal will beat Rossi next year unless Rossi has a chat with Yamaha.  We shall see Harry.  You could be in for a third year of misery.

I could be wrong, but not as wrong as you Rossi fans :D

Erm... he is... & if he finishes 1st he'll take point(s) off his team mate if he manages to beat JL... of course he could do a Pedrosa-2006 (the "selfish, ungrateful, glory seeking little twerp") & take out his team mate... you see, where he finishes & what he does in the race can be very much of consequence. Have you been watching racing long?

... & for a "garage wall" Rossi fan to criticise any other rider for not being a team player is just too good... say it again... please!

... oh, & if we're on the subject of fake injuries... we saw such a massive improvement in Rossi's performance when he recovered from his shoulder surgery... not... something he admitted to playing on in the "F**k, desperate, crying" interview in MCN from last November.

How much d'ya think Honda spent this year, new bike an' all?..100 million..150 million?

And it all has to go up in smoke because Casey wants to win his home race?

Dani would definitely help if the roles were reversed, he'd do it for Honda and his pension.

You keep blaming him, but you do know it wasn't 'Prezel' that actually designed the CF frame?
