I don’t mean to be funny but look at his face on the pic, he’s clearly a stoner (not the boring twat kind) and if he wants a few lines before a race why not, it’s the bike doing the work not him.

A note to yourself Ant, if someone offers you a line of white powder telling you it’s nasal spray without the applicator don’t believe them!

Whilst i dont believe that westy took this to enhance his performance, its so easy to check the banned substance list and see whats on there, im sick to death of sports people getting caught out and then pleading ignorance, there really is no excuse, you check the nasal spray against the list and if something's in it thats banned you use something else it aint rocket science.

The actual substance that West has been punished for is very commonly found in various sports-nutrition drinks, powders & dietary supplements. Problem is – the vast majority of these “sports” potions DO NOT specify that methylhexaneamine is an active ingredient - or even that it is present.

It is therefore in far wider & varied use than simply as the Eli Lilley Company patented & trademarked, Forthane “nasal decongestant”.
Accordingly, if it isn’t even possible to check what one is ingesting & might show-up in any urine test – let’s drop all this, “he should have known” shit, OK? There but for the grace of God, goes a whole heap of others ...

For the same reason, the FIM is guilty of a vast overreach here. I for one hope West appeals for the sake of both himself & any others who may get inadvertently caught-out.
 

Whatever benefit - albeit uber-scanty or ultra-mild - that West has derived from this – let’s not confuse it with anything like EPO, HGH or methamphetamines & the host of “goodies” that Tour De France riders et al have often been caught using. It isn’t anywhere near being in the same league. These guys have found to very occasionally have some tiny flecks of urine in there - along with everything else!

You're jumping to the conclusion that this DDMA junk was somehow consumed 'innocently'. Even if this was the case as Hedgy and myself have pointed out West has a duty to himself, his team and the sport to know about this stuff. Dumb.
