Casey Stoner has thrown his support behind Dani Pedrosa in the combined bike and rider weight debate currently raging in MotoGP.

.Aussie Stoner is backing Repsol Honda teammate Pedrosa, who blasted the proposals.

Stoner said: “In my opinion this is an interesting subject and many people have a valid point but to be honest, I feel sorry for Dani in his situation. There are pros and cons for everything. In some situations Dani’s size is definitely not an advantage to him and the bigger guys have an advantage on the smaller guys. Now we have so much more horsepower than we did in the two-stroke era and nobody complained so much then.

Dani Pedrosa has long been a target for criticism in MotoGP due to his small stature.

“Some riders are complaining more now even though we have more horsepower and more trouble to find traction. I think this is the most important part. If you’re heavier you should have traction a little bit easier. I got the whole the new age rider criticism for years about traction control and they want to find excuses everywhere for different things and there are pros and cons to everything. Dani's size he has lot of difficulties like change of direction and weight balances but at the same time they have disadvantages with their bigger size trying to get tucked in on the straight and maybe on exits. But their bikes are lot more stable than they are with us. There is always going to be discussions about this so they should just put up with it. It's the way it is and if you're already struggling for grip, how can you complain about grip?”

Weighty Matters for Repsol Honda

The Honda RC213V machines run by Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa need ballast to reach the 346-pound minimum weight after that figure was raised 9 pounds in December, which is adding more setup headaches for the Repsol Honda team.

"We have to add weight on to the bike, and where you put it is difficult," Pedrosa said. "It's tricky as location of the weight can change the handling so much. We're trying to keep it simple because you can get a little bit lost if you move it around too much."

That weight will only move around one flavor of frame, as Pedrosa said he has selected his chassis of choice for this test.

"I have chosen one chassis for this test," Pedrosa said. "I believe it is the same as Casey has chosen. I chose the one that gave better feeling (at the first Sepang test), but it also gave more chattering. It is the latest chassis version."

Pedrosa experienced less tire chatter Tuesday than during the first test at Sepang. But he attributed the smoother ride to higher track temperature rather than a chassis design or adjustment breakthrough.

Stoner still suffered from filling-rattling chatter Tuesday.

"We've got a couple of things to change the stiffness and move the weight around, to try and upset the chatter - take away the frequency - and see what we can do," Stoner said. "There's no point bringing a new chassis until we try every available option we have with this one. We've get some options to try. If they don't work, we might have to go in another direction."

To add or not to add.............that is the question.

I say tell them fat gluttonous Brits to get their act together and GTFO of Racing if they feel their bones are too big. There is a reason they have not won a race in Motogp for a "million years"   :-)) *wink wink*
