No more CRT in MotoGP by 2014?

A grid of full-blown prototypes could contest the 2014 MotoGP world championship, ending the headache of how to slash the gulf in performance between factory bikes and production-derived CRT machinery. With only 12 factory bikes on the grid for 2012, the new CRT category allowed teams to tune production motors like Honda’s CBR1000RR and BMW’s S1000RR and run them in prototype...

Calfan..

..you may be on to something there, but why single out the Cornster - surely that just denigrates the performance of the rest of us?

Ducati engines

Maybe Ducati should sell their engine to someone who can design a chassis then...

Just how good are these M1 engines going to be. I'm sure Herve will be more than a little pissed if they start to beat his bikes, and if they're not capable of that then they will be no better than CRT bikes.

Turn the factories into engine suppliers only, use a control ECU, CRT with superchargers, up the fuel limit to 25 litres and bring back the tyre war. How about those new rules Carmelo.

Wont make any difference , only ever be 2 factory bikes from each manufacturer capable of a win.......UNLESS......with more rules comes more cost of getting the most performance from within the rules. .. .. I say.. new rules....must have 1 front wheel,1 back wheel,no nitrous ,any tyres that you turn up with on thursday max 30 dry tyres that must be available to any other rider riding on the same brand...and thats it....

Agree with your first sentence  :  only two prototypes from each manufactuer capable of winning - that's why  I would advocate the return of  Suzuki and Kawasaki to make it a five factory prototype series.  Whatever new rules are set they should be encouraging this - otherwise might as well go the Moto1 route.

Shouldnt have had this crap anyway.. but now since they have infiltrated WSBK they will assimilate it and ruin it too by combining the classes .. Doom is on the horizon for the great racing of WSBK!

What about

if you go back, they went from 750cc down to 500cc, then they went to 990cc 4 strokes, then 800cc, now back to 1000cc. Why don't they set the manufacturers a task, cut it to 500cc 4 stroke, with a maximum of 6 cylinders, but then Honda were already making 6 cylinder 250cc racers back in the sixties, so they'd probably still end up top of the pile, now there's a thought.

Hey Rev, got any more cheap lap tops available yet, only the last few you flogged, the key boards kept jamming, on closer inspection, it was reported that little bits of car window glass was jamming them, any thoughts on that, baaaaa
