BMW R1100GS Battery removal

 Hi,I,m looking after my brothers Beemer and I don't know how to remove the battery. I've taken off the seats and I can see the battery in front of the airbox but under the fuel tank. does the battery come out without dislodging the tank? I have no manual and my bro is abroad for a few months and is uncontactable. The bike has been unused for at least 2 years and I want make sure the battery is not deteriorating.

Sorry I've realised the bike is a 1100cc and the battery is not under the seat

Many thanks

              Tony

Battery removal

Can't help with removal of the battery but I would suspect that it's as dead as a dodo if it hasn't been used in two years.  On BMW's in particular, batteries need to be nice and healthy to start the bike.  The one you are looking at will probably need replacing.

the battery is right under the seat.

the battery is under the seat and under the underseat tool box.

just undo the 2 rubber straps and the battery cables and then just lift it out.
