Casey Stoner bows out with podium in Valencia

Casey Stoner walked away from MotoGP with one last podium after a stunning charge in yesterday’s Valencia race in Spain. The Repsol Honda rider bowed out of Grand Prix racing with a third place in a race that was declared wet but which took place on a dry line throughout. The double MotoGP world champion had the worst conditions imaginable for his...

look i respect Casey for everything he has achieved, but can accept he was far from perfect.

He was probably the fastest rider of the last decade, i can agree with that, but maybe not always the most intelligent. If the best strategy on a bad weekend is to run the whole race in a lonely third place, to score as many points as you could to win the world title at the end of the year. Did Casey ride like that? no he pushed too hard ,threw it away, was fast for half the race and burnt out the tyres.

Lorenzo , will bring it home second week in week out if thats the best it can do, so did Rossi in his prime.

The marks in the win column count for nothing at the end of the year if you finish 4th overall do they.

Not so this year CHR

Dani beat him fair and square. If stoner is good enough to take 2 titles as you say, and Pedrosa has a big fat zilch as you also say, then it should have been a cake walk for his royal stonerness. But instead he got his arse handed to him by his team mate. Never a good move. stoner has made the right move by quitting.

Julian Ryder..

..is the biggest orange crossdresser on the planet..and his fawning rimming of Stoners puckered hole was spouting the much used and favoured Rossi snipe all this weekend just gone..

Mugello 2010..Rossi broke his leg because Lorenzo pressured him into a mistake.

Three races in and just 9pts behind JL, while 4 tenths faster than anyone else..in saturday morming Free Practice?

Couldn't possibly have been just a mistake? You know..failing to get enough heat into the rock hard Bridgestones that have now been scrapped, because every rider on the grid labelled them dangerous in cool conditions. Rossi wasn't the only one to hurt himself.

In the interest of objective reporting and quality journalism, you'd be right to expect more from the cream cake munching porker.

He doesn't mention EVER that the same theory is far more applicable to Stoner at Indy..ten races in, Qualifying, 32pts behind in 3rd..behind his team mate?

Even Toby Moody has had to rein his Eurosport co-presenter in lately..for fear the show will suffer from lack of credibility.

The man is a joke and wants sacking.

That's not the whole picture though, is it..?

Up until Stoner's accident he was leading Pedrosa in victories and higher placings. He lost 3 races due to his injuries, and is still recovering, this despite him winning in P.I and another couple of podiums to his credit. Had he remained fit, there's every chance we wouldn't be having this discussion. Pedrosa handed him his arse...pah!

Maybe he just recognises what many others do

Casey was very, very fast.  Just ask his peers if they can be bothered talking to you.

Casey was the fastest rider this year, but the failure of him and his team to quickly solve the tyre issues that were thrown at them led to pressure and an unfortunate injury.

Pedrosa was the second fasted rider this year but paid the price of a slow start and a couple of unlucky results,

Jorge was the third ffastest rider this season but won when he could, banked second when he couldn't, otherwise rode his luck all season and only made a mistake when it didn't matter.  Nothing wrong with that and he deserves the championship.

But to dismiss every other rider that doesn't as a "failure" is simply moronic.

Ah I see

so what your saying is that stoner fell off his bike and fked his ankle because he's a better rider. I understand now CHR. I think we should write a strong letter of protest to Dorna so that stoner wins no matter what. You and me buddy. We can do it!

He made a mistake, paid the price and we are having this discussion because that's what happened.

If's, but's and maybe's are for the fertile imagination of excuse making fanboi..

We all know how fast Stoner could be but it's the championship that matters. You've got to be in it to win it..

Bottom line..Pedrosa finished 78 pts ahead of Casey..Dani could have missed 3 races and he'd have still beaten him.
