Pics: Valentino Rossi makes Yamaha return

Valentino Rossi has returned to Yamaha’s official factory MotoGP squad at the Valencia track today. The Italian arrived at Yamaha’s garage at the Ricardo Tormo track in the middle of the afternoon ahead of his much hyped return to a factory YZR-M1 tomorrow when the 2013 winter testing campaign gets underway in Spain. Rossi ended a disastrous two-year spell with Ducati in...

Good points Wosi

Guys,

Wosi makes very good points, the fact is love him or hate him he still is the sports biggest and well known star! and thats a fact! when i speak to peeps who dont ride a bike or don't know much about the sport, they all tend to have one thing in common they seem to know Rossi or have heard of him! that in itself tells me he is the sports biggest personality, i bet if you were to go in to the street and ask non-bikers to name a current bike racer most would say Rossi.

Over the last 7/8 years think about some of the most memroable races in gp (not many latetely) and you will recall Rossi was in most of them against current and past riders, and whether he won them or not is irrelevant (think he won most) what matters is he was there in the thick of it exciting all of us whether you like him or not. Yes he has said some regrettable things especailly about Casey when he was at Ducati, which has come back to bite him! But so did Ali, and he was just as entertaining when he boxed and we all miss that era.

Maybe just maybe he can do it again, maybe not with the same consistency, but enouth just to bring back some excitement to GP, just like fedderer in tennis he may still have enougth to surprise and prove the doubters he is not quite past it yet!

Yes

A really good post from Wosi. Sorry to "go old" but when Sheene left Grand Prix it became dead. He had star quality which is exactly what VR has; a combination of bravery, talent, speaking and acting in a way which makes people feel they are important to him. I even think VR used to sand bag a bit when easily able to disappear in order to build up the excitement. Sheene was amazing doing that very thing, in his pomp he could just burn off everyone on the grid so hung back often until the last corner.

Just a shame that winning or losing, Rossi is essentially the only personality in motogp. Simoncelli's demise did not help and perhaps marquez may stir things up. Not to take anything away from him but it would be good to see him return to winning ways because at least and despite Dorna as usual the racing will improve. Interesting article with Burgess in Superbike / Bike / PB? this month. Pretty candid about the rules and rule changes. Think though he will have his work cust out and really hope Ducati get a leg up from Audi again because the racing will be better with them in and competitive again. They deserve credit for staying at it when you condiser that Aprilia, Suzuki, Kerwaski, Illmor, KR and others have singularly failed after the end of the 500 era. Can't wait for WSB next year.......

Rev, let's not start sucking each other's dick's just yet!..

..There is one small problem with Wosi's post. The following sentence isn't quite right: "If Rossi was scared of competing with Lorenzo..what's he doing back at Yamaha, taking a big pay cut now?" Mmm, let's have a think, why is back at Yamaha?...mmm, could it be something to do with his abject failure at Ducati by chance. If he'd set the world alight on that bike, do you really think he'd be hot footing it back to the Japanese marque having to take a substantial pay cut?..Rev, you're losing your edge..

Bottle.

..and you're losing the plot CHR.

Such a shame Casey didn't have the stomach for a good ol' dust-up next year, eh?

Can't really blame him though..writing was on the wall with Dani spanking him on the same bike.

Cue..Couda, wouda, shouda. Oh dear..

Wos, this futile attempt to illicit a response..

..is pointless. An answer to my question about whether or not he would have gone back to Yamaha had he not spectacularly failed at Ducati would be interesting though..

Rev.

.."Well, like Rossi, he doesn't moan about his lot - he makes the best out of what is available and keeps performing to his best." So, has Rossi been performing to his best in your estimation?..

I'm not saying anything.

I was referring to your assertion that Rossi has been trying his best. Do you think he has, it's a simple question?..
