Pics: Valentino Rossi makes Yamaha return

Valentino Rossi has returned to Yamaha’s official factory MotoGP squad at the Valencia track today. The Italian arrived at Yamaha’s garage at the Ricardo Tormo track in the middle of the afternoon ahead of his much hyped return to a factory YZR-M1 tomorrow when the 2013 winter testing campaign gets underway in Spain. Rossi ended a disastrous two-year spell with Ducati in...

He's been missing for the past 2 years..

..and we've all survived. The earth is still slingshotting around the sun, and I still have a dump in the morning. "Irreplaceable"...nah...

The only rider to give them a title and they'd have dropped him like they would your sticky yellow undies…

Double standards? Again.

Stoner only won the title because ducati had the jump in development on everyone else and bridgestone tyres.

Stoner

Stoner will have to make a megga successful comeback in a couple of years time in order to be remembered as a giant of the sport. Sadly, after time, a short time, people only remember statistics. They`ll check the results from a few years back and the record books....Stoner won two W/C`s thats great and not to be sniffed at, but there are plenty other two time champs.

I say this as someone who doesn`t actually dislike him. OK he doesn`t socialise with the other riders and doesn`t play the media games, but so what? He did his job with plenty of flair to make up for that.
Its a shame the record books wont show his true talent in years to come. His choice.

What will it matter should that be the case. Record books are just that, they record events and statistics but don't necessarily paint the picture behind. A record book can show that a rider / driver won a race, but won't show that another rider / driver was ordered out of the way to allow it, or that the one that was way ahead had a machine failure to prevent him winning it.

I doubt Stoner feels he has anything to prove, he achieved his goal of becoming world champion.

I remember that superior 2007 Ducati

That would be the one that both team riders finished every race 1 - 2 on, it was so far ahead of the rest.

Did you notice Capirossi's time at Valencia yesterday  - very respectable for someone who hasn't been on a bike for a while, but then again, the M1 is a good bike, so maybe not so surprising from someone of his ability. You know, the rider that won races for Ducati and who could have won the title in 2006 had fate not dealt a cruel blow. The same rider who in 2007, was made to look a rank amateur by a bike that was extremely difficult to ride - as vouched for by the man himself. The bike you call ahead of the game.

Double standards from me or lack of reality from you

In fact the 2008 ducati was superior as testified by more poles and fastest laps but alas rossi got the same bridgestones tyres and proceeded to reclaim the title.
