cold starting

i have a zzr1100c1 and is used monday to friday for a 35 mile commute.until recently it has started every morning but since the temperature has dropped the engine turns over but does not fire up on the button.this has led to bump starts. The battery has been removed and charged at 0.8ah on a smart charger .The voltage reads 13.5.bike has no problems starting up on return trip.any ideas

how old is it , if more than 4 years probably on the way out. Do you have an alarm fitted as these kill batteries. If you're having to bump it only in the mornings buy a new quality replacement battery before you damage the charging circuit

you tried starting it with a tiny bit of throttle open? Or twisting the throttle open 2 or 3 times before pressing start? I know these are old techniques but I've used them of modern fuel injected bikes.

Is there a manual choke you can use?

This doesn't feel like a battery issue to me as it's turning over just fine.

yes there is a manual choke as bike 22 years old.I normally use full choke when starting with no problems but the last few weeks the bike is struggling to start. JUST FINISHED CHARGING BATTERY AND PUT IT ON BIKE GUESS WHAT IT STARTED SRAIGHT AWAY.

wally, you don`t need a smart charger with a bike in regular use, your battery voltage before starting should be 12.8v ,with the engine at 5,000rpm it should be around 14v ,on a remote charger it`s around 13.5v but returns to 12.8v after a hour OFF charge.

I would never fit and use a battery straight after remote charging.
