Andrea Dovizioso reserves judgement on Ducati potential

Andrea Dovizioso says it is too early to understand the potential of Ducati’s Desmosedici MotoGP machine after he made his debut for the Bologna factory in Valencia last week. Cold and wet conditions meant Dovizioso completed less than 40 laps on a dry track, as he became the latest high profile rider to stake his reputation on making the struggling Desmosedici...

Bulto the riding too safe is a good point. with the weight off his shoulders (see above) and a low expectation of his results for the coming season, he may well push harder..

I'm looking forward to seeing how he gets on at Ducati and hope he does do well there, but 'well' could mean the odd podium. I still think his best and probably only chance of wins went with the Repsol seat.

That sounds like the faith in the lord and Dovi is not as deeply Believed as you have preached ,You are showing signs of a real Vicar,Thank god i'm an atheist !

You can't compare Pedrosa and Dovi.

Pedrosa was winning and on the podium in his first year.

Pedrosa was runner up in his second year and hasn't been out of the top three since with the exception of 2011 thanks to injury

Dovi has come nowhere near having results like that and never looked like it

That's the difference.

Rev.

"Like yourself, a good few other ignorant people ignore the fact that, given the right equipment and support, Dovizioso's a proven world class talent." - Couldn't that be said of a number of riders? - Hayden won a championship on a factory machine and yet has been fairly flaccid ever since, we don't often hear you signing his praises. Give Crutchlow a factory ride and lets see what happens, Dovi's had his chance and didn't take it.

67..

points separated Crutchlow from Dovi ( on the same bike ). 132 points separated Dovi from Lorenzo. Last year 122 points separated Dovi from Stoner ( on the same bike ). That means Cal was 55 points closer to his team mate than Dovi was to his. What's your point Rev?..

Use that sheep's head of yours, and count up how many faster riders, with a higher skill level than Dovi,  there are on the grid, then add the Ducati with Dovi on it, I count 6th or 7th, if you can't see that, then you're dumber than you sound.  Nice to see you using the percentages and remember to store this  in that sheeps head of yours, a 1% chance of Dovi on the Duke, ever attaining a podium, unless they extend it to 6 steps.

Zogg, you appear to liberally apply the term "alien"

..to all and sundry. On another post, you suggested Bradl was an "alien", now you're trying to have us believe Dovi has joined that rank. Who next, Barbera perhaps or how about Espargaro, he did very well last season?...Just a thought..

Of course you can compare them

It's just that in comparison one has a lot less podiums:) BTW, DP average world championship ranking since joining GP class= 3rd, AD=4.6th. My point? Dovi is Dani's nearest rival. If he can do what Dani has done, methodically improve his weaknesses (throttle control IMO - he often indicates post race that he's been spinning up the back a lot) he's a gnats bollock from a lot of podiums, and it's only a gnats bollock from a lot of podiums to a world championship. Of course even a midge's gonad is a long way in motogp.

Dovi V Dani?

its like saying Ali V Harrison! Its a stupid comparison, they were on the same bike for 3 years and Dani was far faster, when he was fit Dovi was nowhere near him. Dovi is good, I like the guy but he is just not elite level, thats not an opinion the facts back it up. Next year if the Duc isnt improved massively I expect Smith to finish in front of Dovi on a regular basis.
