Honda VFR 400 NC 24 year?

Hi joe1990

On the 24 swing arm you will find at the very rear two 12mm bolts(these need to be undone, not taken out) these pinch the swing arm together holding the hole hub in place, the hub itself turns and is elliptical, you will see a toothed ring, this is what is used to do the adjusting, you will need a large C-spanner or the correct tool that is provided in the tool kit. Some people knock this ring around with a hammer and screw driver but this isn't recommended as the toothed ring will soon damage and adjustment may become impossible in the future. Here is a picture of the adjusting tool.

or a large C-spanner like this one will do.

If you find that when you undo the two bolts, the hub wont adjust,it can be(and is very often) the rear brake caliper hanger has seized on the hub,if this is the case the hub and its component parts will need to be stripped cleaned and greased for them all to operate correctly(this is quit a commen fault especially with a bike of this age).. Good Luck
