Anti tamper?? What about when the rear shock is knackered?? Will we only be able to use an OE shock (which as we all know, are mediocre at best), or upgrade or buy something cheaper??

More reasonable beginner limit would be 250cc displacement and 25-HP at the crank, which would allow up to the Honda CBR250R and CFR250L to be ridden. If those are too much bike, then the person should probably never be a motorcycle rider in the first place.

ABS on a dual-sport trail bike is fine since many of them will spend much of their time on the street, but only if there is a disable switch for off-road use.

"This legislation may have some things we don't like in it, but it will have some long term benefits for motorcyclists, especially in terms of cleaner bikes that are cheaper to run.”

The BMF should now push for bike VED  to be based on CO2 LEVELS. These are readily available and would mean, for example that a BMW R1200RT @ 99GMS would be £00 instead of £76; and a Yamaha TMax £20 instead of £55. Especially as bikes generally do less than 3000 miles a year, so not much wear & tear on roads.

As other posters have said - will it be one set  of laws & rules for us and another for car /van drivers ? . Bringing -in emmission controls but no cheap or free tax discs for us , the only thing that controls the government  is the mass vote ,and lets be clear our  voting power is not nearly enough . Some of the new laws about to come in will kill bike sales , once all us mature riders have stopped biking big bikes will become as rare as  Reliant Robins .
