A motorcycle journalist caught speeding at 160mph has been banned for three months after telling a court his girlfriend had just agreed to marry him. Andrew Stevens, 30, who writes for a website, was filmed pulling wheelies at up to 80mph on his Yamaha R1 test bike. He was followed by an unmarked police bike along Seven Mile Lane,...

I'll bet the copper..........

...........enjoyed his 160mph thrash. What a pity the rest of us live in our cotton wool wrapped society. If I see a bike behind me I always assume it's the fuzz. Biking 40+ years, never been caught yet. A road record 165. Motorway record 187. Fuck the police.

Not Here

This would never happen in much of the US where the motorcycle cops ride Harley-Davidson and Victory bikes that really start wheezing above the ton.

Fair enough.

Why didn't the copper pull the guy for the first speeding violation? Why did he have to carry on following him, goading him into riding even faster and pulling wheelies? Why didn't that damned pig do his job and enforce the law in the swiftest and most draconian manner?

Erm, maybe the copper thought he'd cut the speeder some slack for a bit. You know, accept that he was carrying out an overtake, got a bit throttle happy, we all do it etc etc. Then maybe he realised a little later that actually the guy was riding with complete abandon and generally showing off, and deserved to be pulled over and taught a lesson.

Why do some bikers feel goaded by other road users? I don't get it. If you're that that hungry for race victories maybe you should be in WSBK. Sorry, what's that? You're not a good enough rider? Oh, that's a shame.
