Marc Marquez foiled by rain again in Sepang

After a rain-disrupted MotoGP debut in Valencia earlier this month, Marc Marquez was hoping for better luck with the weather at the start of a three-day private Honda test session at the Sepang track in Malaysia today. But the elements conspired against the Spaniard again and he was limited to only 26-laps on board the factory Repsol Honda RC213V machine. Marquez had...

Lap times...

The fastest race lap may be Stoner's 2007 effort but the 1000's are a lot quicker with JL putting in a 2:00.334 which is a little less flattering for MM... different times & conditions no doubt & the guy's just learning the bike making them evem more irrelevant.

Bautista

Am I right in thinking Bautista is going to be running Showa suspension and Nissan Brakes again, and his is the only Honda running this setup? what is the thinking behind doing this, surley all it proves is the Ohlins and Brembo combination works better?

Time..

On the third day of Sepang 1 test, earlier this year, Stoner did a 1'59.607..

Of the Fourteen prototypes running around that day Ducati test rider, Franco Battaini, was slowest with a 2'03.033 over half a second quicker than Marquez.

Nothing to see here..move along.

Spinning again Wosi..

Battaini's time on the first day of testing in Sepang was a 2'04.986, which was over a second slower than Marquez - this despite him doing 9 more laps! What are you driving at Wosi?..

I forgot to add..

..Marquez's time is comparable with Bradl's first day test, although again, the German completed another 18 laps more than the Spanish rookie..

CHR

The Marquez pr machine is in full spin, thats the issue here. Granted he's an exciting prospect and hopefully will add alot to the class. By putting misleading times up to make it look like he was close to the lap record first time out, is nothing more than spin.

Theres a huge difference the 800cc 2'02.108 and the 1000cc  1'59.607 is there?? and quoting the former makes Marquez look sensational instead of average.

Thats the problem with the heavy media involvement these days, they promote one rider as a world beater and put down another just because he's not the favoured one. The average person may fall for the horseshit ,and it leads to half the bollocks thats then spouted in here (not pointing the finger at you BTW)

Interesting point diceman

I'm not sure what the answer is, but I would suggest Bautista's bike is being used as the "control", to ensure that the combination of Ohlins/Brembo really is as good as we assume. I imagine Bautista gets special treats from HRC if he plays ball. Besides, Showa may produce a solution to a problem that Ohlins hasn't figured out, and it may be the case that the Showa kit is the stuff to be on.
