Bryan Staring lands Gresini CRT ride

Casey Stoner’s retirement from MotoGP hasn’t left the premier class without an Australian rider on the grid after Bryan Staring was confirmed as the surprise pick for the Gresini CRT ride. Staring took three wins in the FIM 1000cc Superstock series last season and he will ride the FTR-Honda CRT bike for the Italian-based Gresini squad. Gresini was forced into the rider...

Good for Staring

Even though he has to slug it out on the wheezy little 76mm bored Fairyblade engine this is the opportunity of a lifetime.

I don't know too much about him except he ran Aussie 600 SS for a few years and may have nabbed a title there, graduated to Aussie SBK as they do and proved himself a consistent front runner in that class before trying his luck in Europe.

Has Uncle Carmelo had anything to do with it? Pissy little 20m strong Aussie T.V market. Unlikely, but if he's determined to put a global face of sorts on the series then perhaps.

Sould be Benny..but I've a feeling in my strongbow saturated water most ex-27ers will keep the bunched orange panties and become the new 93ers.

This of course, will be the height of hypocrisy..as the one thing that binds the anti-Rossifukosi, is their dislike for a talented silver spoon who's had the red carpet rolled out. Mind you..Marquez looks to have had the same charisma bypass as Stoner. All saddos together perhaps?

Good luck to Staring..he rightly sounds absolutely made up.

A talent that is worth a try

Staring is good value. He got his break in Europe via Pedercini by literally going door knocking at the last round at Magny Cours in 2010 trying to secure a ride in Superstock and also thanks to strong recommendations by Bayliss who rated him very highly. He blew them away in a 20 lap test and ended up winning a contract for 2011, beating off a few other competitors one of which was Gabor Talmacsi. So impressed he was initially earmarked to join Rolfo in the Superbike team but they then decided to slot him into the Superstock ride after they also confirmed Marc Atchison. He did make a couple of appearances in Superbike for Pedercini covering injuries getting a 10th in race 1 at Phillip Island in 2012 and finishing  in the points in race 1 in 2011. By his own admission 2011 was a shocker in Superstock but his 2012 was a goodie and with a bit more luck he could of won the title, but still winning three rounds on a Pedercini Kawasaki is a big effort as they are not renowned as being the most competitive team in the paddock, and for the first time ever Kawasaki won the constructors title outgunning the beemers and ducs. Not a bad effort!

The guy has plenty of potential and he will improve. He is obviously not in same the class as some  running around in superbike (yet) or motogp (maybe one day) but certainly as good as the guys running around in CRT last season. Good luck to him. I am not sure that Carmelo was rubbing his hands together securing an Australian, little known outside Oz with 1000 followers on twitter and about 500 fans on facebook to replace Casey Stoner as the only Australian in the paddock (give me a break)… And he sure as hell hasn't got the gig because of lots of $ he brings with him or his racing contacts. He got a chance because some people think he is a talent.

Good News

Did some rider training with him a few years back nice bloke, quiet, unassuming. Hopefully some good results will see him take an underperforming brits tech 3 ride in the next few years.
