...the last 'concept' bike we saw like this at a show  turned into the VFR 1200.....I don't think Triumph will be too worried do you? :smile.Opinion in  the bike press is that Yamaha probably won't be willing to put this bike into production due to the cost and the fact that the cross plane crank R1 isn't exactly a best seller.

are definitely going to make this configuration of engine and put it in all sorts of bikes with different capacities. They have experience of triples and cross-plane crankshafts.
Their whole business is now geared around developing and putting this engine into production.

.. have experience of triple engines (and they are not good ones):smile....Yamaha motorcycles are very much in debt and could well be the first of the Japanese companies to stop production altogether....developing and producing a new motorcycle costs a massive amount of money up front and in a  free falling market it 's financial suicide to try it.....it's a sad fact that Yamaha may be known only as musical instrument makers in a few years time.
