Hugger rubbing against tyre

Hi there,

After my last rideout,I noticed that my rear hugger was rubbing against my tyre.It has melted plastic onto the edge of my tyre all the way round. It is a fairly new tyre Michelin PR3 with 4,000 miles. My question is would it still be safe to ride?

Didn`t feel any difference on the rideout.

Thanks,

Frank.

hugger

Should still be safe.

PS. How many miles do you expect to get out of it, if you consider 4,000 miles "Nearly new"? LOL

Tyre life

Based on feedback that I have read in the press and on forums PR3's are giving amazing mileages.   Scotfaze's is probably only about half-worn at 4K.

hugger rubbing

Ok maybe a bit optimistic with fairly new,but i reckon iv`e at least another 5,000 miles from it.The hugger is a Pyramid one and has been fitted since new 7 years ago.It has always been closer to the right hand side of tyre without actually touching it.At the end of the last ride it was very loose as if a washer was missing and this caused the hugger to constantly rub against the tyre, leaving a shiny film of melted plastic all around the tyre.

I have uploaded a photo of the tyre, hopefully its there to see
