Guns don't kill people...

...neither do motorcycles, cars, trucks etc. You can't die from a gun but you can die of blood loss or organ failure as a result of being shot, run over by a car/truck who didn't see you or miss-judging a corner and hitting a tree. Yes there is always a human element but allowing Americans to freely own guns is like giving kids the key to the sweet shop and saying you can pocket as much candy as you like but don't eat any.

Ok maybe that was a stupid statement but the statistics speak for themselves. Yes knife crime is a problem in most UK inner-cities but it's gang culture and the idea that you need a knife to protect yourself which has caused the increase in stabbings and knife attacks. Take away that culture, stop them carrying knives by having harsher punishment for carrying them and better education and opportunities for inner-city kids and you'll find knife crime will be reduced.

Having the right to arm yourself means so does everyone else and it becomes an arms race.

US special forces aint always that special.

You can walk in to US special forces regiments straight from civvy street. They are more like normal UK regiments that specialise in irregular weapons and tactics. Most other special forces in the western world require  a few years in a regular regiment which identifies the individual as a stand out candidate. They can then apply to special forces and only a small percentage of those make it through.

The problem in the US with gun crimes rest entirely with the mentality of the US citizens. Taking a life is almost celebrated and is a go to response for many minor incidents in the US (and yes I've lived there and have first hand experience of what I'm talking about).
