Yamaha to make 250 sports bike

Yamaha has said it will make a 250cc sports bike. The YZF-R250 is expected to have similar styling to the R6, as in the above mock-up, doing the internet rounds. It’s not clear if the 2014 Indian model will come here.

price?

I like the idea of genuinely 'good' low (-er) powered sports bikes- singles such as mooted ktm moto3 'street' or minitwins. Surely could be great for road racing and superb for uk roads but only if not budget parts made to look 'sporty' (allegedly). The problem then is they should not be too expensive. MCN featured a ktm mototech 690r- great looks, great performance but over £8k using second hand donor (£10000 plus new). Great to have proper sports bike with lower capacity and good suspension/chassis. New global sportsbike? Is there a market?
