M25 cameras catch no one in a year

A network of 36 speed cameras on the M25 has caught no one in a year because none has been switched on. Technical and legal difficulties have prevented the Highways Agency from switching on the variable speed limit cameras. It came to light when AOL tried to find out which camera had raised the most in fines. The Highways Agency...

"UKIP = BNP-lite?"

There we have it - damned white of them to admit it :wink:

I've never understood why these swivel-eyed far-right types foam at the mouth at the mention of Europe, but are more than happy to take marching orders from those lunatics across the Atlantic.

Amerika has done vastly more harm to this country, economically and culturally, than Europe,  and has total control of our government.

What is it UKIP wants - another war with Germany?  Isolate us on this grotty little overcrowded island, so we cannot travel, work or live in Europe should we wish?

And who was it that called speed cameras "socialist"?  FFS, that fool needs to buy a dictionary.

UKIP

How politics managed to get into an article about M25 Speed Cameras is beyond me. But to those who mock the people who have the moral strength to vote UKIP I say just one thing start to think as an individual and not as a mob. How many vote for one party either because they have always voted for that party or because they think they stand for either the working class or upper class. Wake up!

Good

Good job they are blowing money on crap that is useless, even when it is working. Would hate to see them throwing it away making improvements to the road, filling potholes etc.

Revenue cameras

The law should be changed so as to not allow them to call them "safety cameras" everyone knows they are "revenue cameras" and these stories only go to strengthen the case. Someone should be sacked for wasting tax payers money to install an expensive system and not have it working.

Surely if a camera is installed for safety purposes and catches no one speeding then it is 100% effective as it has stopped people speeding where it is located, so if you they install them for safety purposes they should not expect any revenue. A camera that catches lots of people speeding is not effective as a speed deterrent.

Safety Cameras...Yeah Right

Yes, if no one was caught by these 'Scameras', the state would lose billions in revenue, (indirect taxation), Its nothing to do with safety, and all to do with raising revenue, along with thier many other 'Data Base Schemes' to fleece the populace, the UK is £trillions in debt, thanks to succesive governments bailing out the bankers after they had squandered astronomical amounts of money on that 'global casino' called the stock market.

Speed Camera's

the city i live in has only ever had one speed Camera. it was situated at the bottom of a steep hill coming into the city by a junction that was a bad accident spot, expecially with Bikes. the main reason for this of course was never people speeding but due to several trees obscuring the view out of the junction. the solution to this it seems was to add another obstuction ie a speed camera.

 Anyway i digress, as this wasn't the reason we finally got rid of the camera, steep hill remember? several schools at top of the steep hill, kids with pushbikes. seems it became something of a challenge with the local kids to see if you could set this camera off on your pushbike, to the extent that a police car had to be posted there everyday at school home time to deter said activity. the camera only lasted 3 months of this until it was removed (to be replaced with one of those that tells you your speed DOH)
